whoever this person is.....under that mystery name...deserves to be
where he or she is.

Is this person a male or female???

whatever it is....it's a great show on the weekends. My colleagues rave
about the music on the show all the time.

Can someone tell us when and where is the next appearance?

One thing though.....i've read the earlier stuff about "Dr.Mix" and i
must add that i am really disappointed with some of you. Please know
your facts before blaring out?

and the thing about Zoo 101.6fm........that show was targeted at kids.

Dr.Mix has mass appeal. Combining the old and the new. Even people who
frequent Velvet Underground enjoy the music.

why you might ask???? well..quite simple. the music programming is
incredible! I read earlier about Gold FM's stuff by Addison
Low..............honestly......it is easier to programme the music on
that show cause it is not mixed. just line them up one after the
other. But for Class 95's Dr.Mix........the array of songs at one go
from the 70's, 80's, 90's and beyond is really Classy! Now that's what
i call ingenius. we are talking about 6 hours of music programming.

seriously...i take my hat off for this person and...... the person who
employed this individual to handle the show!

Is it a coincidence that ardent supporters always uses pacific net,
Macintosh,
as well as replay.com in the properties of the message ?

Hmmmm.....
I'm no expert in this identity area anyway...

Zoo FM targeted at kids ?
What an insult to Singaporeans who listen to the station during those
yrs....

I've enjoyed Dr Mix shows, BUT IF it turns out that most of these ardent
supporters are the SAME person trying to do some publicity stint , then i'm
totally disappointed

SIGH!

Hmm...a quiz ????

Song title : He's the Greatest Dancer
Artiste : Sister Sledge

BTW only samples were used. "Gettin Jiggy With it" IS NOT a cover version

And why ask me only ?
What do you wish to prove ?

This is so bizarre.....

i don't understand it either. i'm not sure if Dr Mix is real or a
computer program. i've been told it's done by computer, but i'm still
open to the idea the he is real and can do it live. Mr Alan Oliviero's
post sounds legit and i'm inclined to believe it. but i don't
understand how these people who, like me, can't be 100% sure either
that Dr Mix is real, can argue and carry his balls so high and they're
*so sure* he's not a fake. and these people usually can't carry a
decent conversation or discussion without turning aggressive at the
end of every post to emphasize their points.

Actually many of the song mixes played on the show are official mixes
released by the artistes. Some are quite hard to find too.

There are occasional weird ones eg.
Madonna - Into The Groove
some weird mix where the beat sounded different from the original at some
points

Human League - Human
with the groovy beat reminiscent of PM Dawn's Set Adrift on memory bliss

which might have come from some DJ remix issues or probably a special remix
by Dr Mix himself. Not sure.
Anyway, very often computers are used as aids for such song mixing, even
though there might be equipment designed specially for the job.

All in all, we need to recognise what kind of mixing we are refering to,
and
if computers were used, it's not all that surprising or scandalous.

Hey Rory,

yah...i have to agree with you on something....there are a lot of people who
are carrying his balls. This goes to show that the majority likes the dude.
btw, your speculation on whether this person is real can be put to rest because
the media is covering him quite frequently. Check out the latest issue of
"juice". check the last paragraph on the write-up by Stingray or Decksurgeon
Ming...it cover the Studio East gig he did a few weeks ago. think he has been
performing there on a weekly basis. you guys should know what's goin on in the
clubs right? his photo has also appeared in 8 days, ETC, Straits Times and so
on. heard he also went up to Bangkok to open a club there few months ago
together with Brendon and Andrew. btw too, Dr.Mix can scratch also. Old skool
style. anyways, carry on mixing dudes. will fill you in if i hear more about
him.

Hmmm...slowly...with lots of sources and perhaps a bit of money will help.
Nevertheless, it might be a bit late now if you intend to start a
collection.
However, I've known people who spent a huge amount and managed to gather
lots of super rare stuff in just over 2 yrs.

Like you said, it's late trying to build one now, but if one is willing to
spend...

As for the few characters talking about the Dr.Mix fella, they appear to be
the same person.

Okay. Here we go

The "Into The Groove" is only available on a special remixed record
available from Italy Circa 1985. The track on the 12-inch that was
Into The Groove is just called Regular. I think that it was a bootleg
remix. I bought it for twenty bucks from Valentine Music Cntre...a
princely sum in those days when you are a student :-)

As for Human...well, DoctorMix actually used a drum loop called "The
Loop of 1987" and was a loop that was used a lot by Milli Vanilli, on
Eric B and Rakim's "Paid In Full" on EMF's "Unbelievable" and loads
more. It was done by the industry standard Roland 808 drum machine.
That loop is available on Simon Harris's "Beats, Breaks and Scratches
Volume 2"

DoctorMix told me that he that he used Pro Tools on some of his mixes
and DysH is right to norice that. I use some pretty low-key Windows
software called Samplitude to help me do remixes but given the rojak
computer of mine PLUS the fact that my harddisk ain't big enuf, I am
limited by resoursces

I still say that vinyl is the greatest for DJ'ing because I can cue a
song faster with vinyl than I can with CD player. Long live the
SL-1200!

rats....makes me long for my old DJ days again! :-(

Talking about Valentine Music Centre, I went back to it recently (after not
going there for like 4 yrs!!) and was pretty shocked by the reduction in
the size of the shop....hmmm....

Wow...you sure did a lot of research on it =)
Hmm...these drum loops reminded me of another one on Kylie Minogue's Hand
on your heart ? as well as another on Soul II Soul "Back to life"
they were pretty popular back then =)

hehe, you should get a new computer...they are quite cheap , esp. if you
assemble them. Get programs like Sound Forge 4.5, Acid Pro 4.5, Virtual
Turntable or spin Station, and you can generate loads of mixes, with
practice. For the techno savvy, they may even want to go around with a
laptop full of mp3s armed with the program Virtual Turntable =)

You can get Virtual Turntable at
http://www.carrot.prohosting.com

> rats....makes me long for my old DJ days again! :-(

Hmm...just curious, why not do part time or something ?

Yep. I am still doing the migration of the organisation's intranet. I am
also doing PowerPoint slides for one of the VIPs. After which, I should be
free as a bird.

Yep. It was re-released about four years back, right?
