This
presentation will challenge the perpetual stereotype of Black youth,
especially boys, as people who are criminal minded, uneducated,
disaffected and demotivated. Why don't we see more stories about
young Black people who make good decisions that benefit themselves
and their communities? They do exist! Why can't the media find them?
Today there are many young people who are making positive contributions to society and have contributed to World History. Often their contributions have been ignored and not celebrated.
In Young Gifted & Black, Black History Studies will focus on the contributions and achievements of young people both past and present in the areas such as young entrepreneurs, inventors, artists, activists and many more.
There will be a discussion after the presentation. Bring a pen!
On the night, there will be young entrepreneurs showcasing their products such as:
Jaan's
Jewellery - "Jaan,
a young and creative entrepreneur, transformed her hobby, making
beaded jewellery, into a business specialising in fun and colourful
jewellery for children."
Nafasi Cultured Cards by Nature -

by Nature is a handmade cultural cards company run by a 11yr old
businessman called Nature.
Shanika Williams - a young entrepreneur who will be showcasing her art and crafts on the night.
