Walk to support the fight against MS
Join us as we walk to support the fight against MS!
This event will be lead by Dr. Haley Titus, NUPF treasurer. She is the Chicago Lakefront Walk MS volunteer coordinator and is inviting you to join her team “Titus’s Trotters”. Please consider joining as a VOLUNTEER or WALKER (can be VIRTUAL) for Sunday May 1st at Lincoln Park.
Fundraising drives groundbreaking research, provides life-changing programs and guarantees a supportive community for those who need it most. All receive complimentary lunch and volunteers receive free t-shirts. All participants can earn prizes for various levels of fundraising.
Please visit the link below to join the team. By joining my team, you will be signing up for a great event and an important cause. Each mile we walk, each dollar we raise brings us that much closer to our goal – a world free of MS. There is no minimum fundraising to participate by the NMSS but she asks if you join Titus’s Trotters that you consider fundraising at least a $25 donation to cover the meal and clothing provided by the NMSS.

1. 2016 Postdoctoral Preparation Institute Seminar
Applications are due May 6th!
The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) is sponsoring the 2016 Postdoctoral Preparation Institute (2016 PPI) on June 2-3, 2016 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in Bethesda, MD.
The 2016 PPI is intended to bring together postdoctoral investigators who will soon be seeking their first independent positions. A key objective of the 2016 PPI is to provide insights about the various career pathways PhD-trained scientists may consider as they prepare to transition into independent careers in the biomedical research workforce. The broad landscape of career opportunities includes areas such as science policy, science writing, intellectual property law and patents, industry, consulting and entrepreneurship, academic research/teaching, science education, nonprofit sector and government.
The 2016 PPI will provide a range of information and resources which postdocs will need in order to make a successful transition to independence, including making the right career choice, finding the right institutional fit, applying for a position, succeeding in the job interview and seminar, negotiating a startup package, networking and forming collaborations, and balancing research with many other commitments.
The 2016 PPI seminar is geared towards 5th year PhD students or new assistant professors (within 1 year) engaged in science/research and are within 12-18 months of completing their postdoctoral training.
Travel awards (up to a maximum of $1,500) will be provided for all eligible and selected applicants.
