We are officially transferring over the accounts from Evanston (SOFO) to Chicago (COFO). The new chart string is below. Michelle, please give the NEW chart string to catering for the
2016 "kick off" events so they can be processed through the new account.
New:
If you need a tax exempt form, I need AT LEAST 3 days notice (with the name of the company). Once Jittra processes it I can send it via email.
Please note signatures are NO longer required on receipts (with the exception of alcohol). You simply need to
get them to me. I am located on Chicago's campus in 6-717 Tarry Building, 303 E Chicago Ave. Chicago, IL 60611. If you plan to send something via interoffice mail please
TELL ME so I actually check the mail box. I am also at most NUPF activities throughout the month and can always get them then.
If anyone has more questions please direct them to me and if needed I may contact Arun as I am still trying to learn everything.
Thanks Haley,
Just want to make a note, anyone using the new chartstring to place an order (like catering for coffee hour or an event) please send a copy of final bill (with final amount charged) to Haley for the record.
Michelle, if you have the final receipts for our kickoff event last month at both the campuses, please send a copy to Haley.
Thanks,
Arunoday
Thanks Arun,
I will forward what you (all) send to me along to Jittra.

This is off topic, but can you guys put up information on the old webpage that indicates that the location of the page has been changed? or possibly could you implement a redirect of the northwestern tgs nupf page to the new page? I think it would be good to only have one site floating around since the old one is no longer being updated. I would suggest the same for the facebook page. I think it is confusing to have two nupf facebook groups, so maybe just delete one?Cass

Hi everyone,
Dear all,
I talked with Kristen about the "Drinks with the Dean" (May 10th) this morning, and YES please register for the event everyone!! TGS/OPA are specifically interested in a large NUPF presence, so please go for it! There are 30 slots, and so far only 9 postdocs have registered. Please register until Monday, May 2nd, 8AM to reserve your spot, because then Kristen will send out the invite to all postdocs and it may fill up real quick. Of course, feel free to pass the invite to your committee members as well!
Details of the event and RSVP can be found here:
Hope to see you all there!

Hey Guys,
We have a "Meet Us" event tomorrow at Symphony Hall for the Civic Orchestra. I logged on to the eventbrite that Michelle created to see our expected turn out and the number is 0. The ticket sales were set for the timeline of the previous concert (ended
in March) and were never turned on for May. I just edited this. If you are coming can you please RSVP so I know who to look for. I will be at Tesori at 6:30 and the concert at 8PM. I have an extra ticket
if anyone still needs one, just message me.
TOMORROW May 3rd at 8PM in Symphony Hall... We’re going to the Civic Orchestra of Chicago to hear Brahms and Strauss! The eventbrite RSVP is so we can keep track of who we are meeting. Meet us in the restaurant, Tresori, around 6:30 pm if you want to grab food beforehand! Otherwise, meet us around 7:30 pm to just grab a seat. See you there!
Order your tickets here (The Civic Orchestra provides tickets for free but there is a $5 processing fee): http://cso.org/ticketsa…/Production-Details/…/civic-mozart/…

I ended up meeting another friend from the CSO junior board to talk about the schedule for concerts/events next year and sat in the bar with my eyes peeled. I didn't see anyone that was "searching for people". Next time I will double check the link is active in advance. As of now, I am the only person from NUPF I know of that went.

Hi Veronika,
I’ll plan to be on the call Thursday and can provide a very quick update on the DoL topic we discussed last week.
Additionally, can someone connect with me about whether you need to or plan to extend the abstract deadline for the NUPF symposium? If you plan to extend it, then I can provide an incentive that might help to get a few more people to sign-up this week. You could raffle the incentive off to any postdoc that has submitted an abstract at any time during your open call, not just the last minute submitters. Sorry that I didn’t have it available sooner.
Thanks,
jen

Hi NUPFers,
The National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW, September 17-23,
2016) is quickly approaching, and we need NUPF presence at the
events organized by the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA)! This
is a great opportunity to show the face of NUPF and get new
postdocs on board - all this "for free" with no organizational
effort from NUPF apart from your commitment to attend some of the
events.
Here is the list of events with Eventbrite links, as provided in
the latest OPA wire:
http://www.tgs.northwestern.edu/resources-for/postdocs/news-events/stories/2016/npaw2016.html
Please check your schedules and decide which events you can
attend. I know we are all busy, and no-one is expected to show up
for all events. Instead, please make sure that the event(s)
you sign up for are really on your schedule. If this
means that you can only commit to one event - that's ok.
Once you have signed up on the Eventbrite page(s) for the
event(s) you are planning to attend, please also fill out
this quick doodle poll, which keeps track of NUPF presence:
http://doodle.com/poll/h6uvbbct7mbkqrsu
You may want to take a look at the doodle poll before your decision on what to attend, in order to see which events already have strong NUPF presence.
Committee chairs, please forward this email to committee members I may have missed, and of course to any new members joining your teams.
Thanks a lot for your cooperation!
Cheers
Veronika
Veronika,
I would love to but I will be in WI for a speaking engagement with the NMSS.
Hi ECers,
Please see below the announcement of the 2017 National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) Meeting to be held in San Francisco in March, and a note from Jen regarding funding/travel award application for the meeting.
The 2016 meeting was a great experience for me! I highly
encourage everyone to consider going next year.
Thanks

Hi Veronika,
Mark your calendar and share with NUPF EC! It would be good for anyone that wants to go to apply for a travel award, then we can discuss how to supplement additional travel costs for a few NUPFers:
Travel Award Cycle 2:
· Postdocs must apply by February 10th by 5pm. Late applications will NOT be accepted, no exceptions.
· Funds will be awarded for travel taking place between March 1st and August 31st.

Hi everyone,
Hi NUPFers,
Less than 3 weeks left until National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW, September 17-23, 2016) begins! Thanks to those of you who have already committed to attending NPAW events. Everyone else, please consider putting your names down, too (links and instructions are below).
We especially need NUPF presence at the Chicago coffee hour (no NUPF sign-ups so far), plus some more NUPFers at the Evanston coffee hour and the other events would be great, too. Please keep in mind, this is a once-in-a-year opportunity to promote NUPF for free and at no organizational effort apart from attending!
Thank you for your consideration. Looking forward to seeing you
at the events soon!
Best

Dear all,
As most of you may already know I'm moving to Netherlands thus will leave NU soon. It has been a delightful experience to work with all of you to support the postdoctoral community at NU. I'm glad that I get to know all of you. I'm sure that NUPF will continue to enhance the postdoctoral experience here with our new members. With mixed feelings, I'm writing to resign from my Administrative Coordinator position in EC and say goodbye to everyone. Due to my extremely busy schedule in my remaining 1 month here, I'm afraid I won't be able to attend any future meetings. However, if you need my help for our upcoming symposium, I will be more than happy to help.
I'm sure that I will see most of you around before I leave. I'm practically living in the lab these days but I will try to stop by our social events so that I can chat with you.
Please keep in touch, in the future you can always reach me at yar.s...@gmail.com
Cheers,
Sumeyye

You'll be missed!!!!
Hi NUPFers,
Our biggest annual event, the symposium, is less than a week away! I have seen a lot of your names on the registrants' list - thank you all for coming! Therefore, I am asking you to please fill out the following very short doodle poll. Should you not be able to make it to the entire event, you can indicate time slots when you will be there.
http://doodle.com/poll/tvh8d89ghuuamp7t
Also, we are still looking for a volunteer to take
pictures of the event. A good camera would obviously
be best, but if you enjoy taking pictures and just have your phone
available, that's fine. Please email me if you are interested.
If you are not available for the entire event, but would like to
take pictures during part of it, please let me know also, and I
will try to assign different people to different parts of the
program.
Thanks, Haley and Luca! That is great. I hope you will not be too busy with other tasks though - so if there are any non-CAP volunteers in addition to you guys, that would still be helpful.
Thanks guys! Almost there!!
Veronika
Hi everyone,
These are NUPF-intensive days for all of us - let's only do a quick recap of the symposium this Thursday, September 15th, at 7:30 AM, taking advantage of fresh memories to share some thoughts about the event! We should also quickly chat about the upcoming NPAW events. No other items on the agenda! I will not even send out an official one.
See you Wednesday, and talk Thursday! Thank
you all for doing an amazing job to get ready for symposium day!!!
WE'RE ALMOST THERE!!!
Cheers
