Hello All,

After looking at the website today, I just had a couple of comments.
The first is that the 'donorship' page should probably be split up into
two pages: a 'donors' page which displays the banner of our donors
and a 'donate' page where folks donate / find out how to donate.

Also, I feel that there are a few projects which could conceivably
be under our umbrella, if interested.

So what does it mean to be a sponsered project?

I see SymPy on the list, but I don't remember seeing anything on our
list about it. I mean it would be great to get funding to work on
SymPy, but after the epic numpy thread; perhaps, numfocus should be a
bit careful saying who we sponser.

I don't want to sounds too harsh, but after finding the site (http://www.numfocus.org/) my first thought was "welcome to the nineties". I hope it's a temporary placeholder. I'm confident that there's someone on the numpy list who would be willing to put together something basic based on Sphinx/Django/whatever.

I could help out with any Sphinx/Django on the site but the site
really needs a graphics designer.

Maybe even just a simple static site using, say,
http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/

I'd also be happy to help make it easier on the eyes if you want anything as simple as http://pandas.pydata.org/ (sphinx-powered)

If you want some basic blog functionality, check out Pelican: http://pelican.readthedocs.org/ - currently using that with the bootstrap link Wes just shared for our company-blog-to-be.

For professional design on the cheap: 99designs.com + psd2html.com

Any design help would be appreciated. This has been a *learning* experience for a very new intern. I am also taking to a friend of mine who is a designer to see if he has bandwidth to help.

We will probably end up using WordPress for the site, though.

Thanks,

-Travis

We need to change the wording and refactor the page. The only currently sponsored projects are NumPy, SciPy, IPython, and Matplotlib

I wanted to make a list of other projects that we could be interested in sponsoring if people from those projects request it. So, I will likely make another page of projects that we will consider proposals from. But, we should reserve the sponsored projects page for projects where we actually have someone who has volunteered to review proposals.
