If a person can really address the innermost needs of another human
being, why charge a fee? If these abilities are inherent in everyone,
why pay for what you already possess? These are good questions. Here's
another good question: if you can make a steak at home, why go out and
spend the money to have someone prepare and serve one to you?
It's easy to recognize the fact that in a 5 star restaurant the chef
has spent a great deal of time, focus, and energy to learn his craft.
He uses only the best ingredients and equipment to prepare your food.
He knows how to combine those different elements to create not only a
mouth-watering dish but, one that is aesthetically pleasing as well.
The waiter is, hopefully, professional. He can tell you what
appetizer, wine, and dessert will compliment your main course. So it
is with the psychic. Do you see the point?
In an ideal world we would all offer our services in exchange for
something of equal value. I need bread and, am not the best baker. You
give bread in exchange for something I possess. That would be nice,
wouldn't it. In the world of practical concerns though our medium of
exchange is monetary. And you are paying to see a 'specialist'.
Of course, many psychics devote a great deal of time to worthy causes.
A real psychic doesn't mind answering a question or two if asked and
you have the chance to evaluate their skills on the spot. We don't
expect a professional actor, singer, doctor, etc. to work for free.
Nor, do we expect to go to that 5 star restaurant and eat a meal for
the price of a 'super duper combo meal'. Why then expect a psychic
reading to be free? Imagine how you would feel if your boss took you
aside and said: "You're the best we have. You do your job better than
anyone else and are ten times more knowledgeable than anyone on our
staff. Therefore, I'd like you to start working for
free!"
