Numbas LTI provider v3.0

Hi everyone!

We’ve just released the next major version of the Numbas LTI provider: v3.0.

The main impetus for moving to a new major version was to get up to date with the third-party libraries that the LTI provider relies on; there were a few big changes in the way they worked, so working with the latest versions involved rewriting a lot of code.

However, I’ve also taken the opportunity to add a few new features, and to work through a lot of bug reports and interface improvements in the issue tracker.

We’ve been running v3.0 here at Newcastle for a couple of months, and it’s proved significantly more reliable than v2.

Hi Christian. I hope you're well. 

With the depreciation of some legacy LTI versions at the end of June for LTI v1.1 (the NUMBAS LTI provider 3.0 documentation says it uses this version), is there going to be a NUMBAS LTI provider update at some point? 

We're hoping to update our NUMBAS LTI instance at some point over the summer here at Bath and want to plan our update schedule :)

I think IMS are just stopping certifying LTI 1.1 tools. I'd be surprised if the VLEs stopped supporting them any time soon, though.

I've looked at the LTI 1.3 authentication process a few times and given up because it's so hard. It'll have to happen at some point. Not in the next few months, though.
