NUM branches at Exxaro Coal operations to embark on a march
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) members will embark on a march in all Exxaro operations at Exxaro Coal in Mpumalanga on Thursday (31 July 2014).
The following NUM branches will participate in the march:
• ARNOT COAL
• MATLA COAL
• NBC COAL
The march and hand over of the memorandum will happen at the operations mentioned above.
Date of the march: 31 July 2014
Time : 16h30 pm
The issues in disputes are the following:
• Racism is rife at Exxaro from Head office down to the operations.
• Safety of the employees is being compromised at the workplace.
• Bonus System is very discriminatory and NUM is fighting for the equalisation of the bonus system.
• Terms and conditions of employment are unilaterally changed.
