Japan is getting HUGE earthquake and Tsunami!! I'm currently safe, but
I'm not sure whether or not I can continue NullpoMino development...
Anyway, I added NM8 branch.
The current (7.*) Nullpo Engine is messy. So I decided to create a new
engine.
Unlike 7.* engine, the timer is milisecond based; so framerate won't
be a big issue.
I'm also thinking about large change to rule system.
If you have any suggestions or opinions about this engine, feel free
to post here!

ms based? this is how toj and tf work, right?
i know old engine gave you lot of trouble, so it may be worth to try
other approach.
but this won't be good for tgm gameplay, right?
well i was thinking solution for nullpomino fps/timing issues would be
some sort of frame skip. currently when nullpomino can't keep up with
60fps it will slow down, so time is not accurate, but if it would be
allowed to call update logic few times for single render when it stays
behind, that would allow to keep time accurate.
anyway, i hope you will find good solution that will fix all issues.

Take care of yourself.

Yeah, stay safe, Noname... My girlfriend is half-Japanese and has a lot of family in Japan, so I've been hearing quite a bit about this lately, and it's really scary...

I really don't like the millisecond-based engine myself, but if we could decouple the logic speed from the render speed, that would be really useful. We should probably focus on cleaning up the engine that we have and separating out the different gametypes into extensions of the engine (i.e. separate out code for Avalanche style and such). Hopefully that will make things less messy... We should also see if there's any reason why input lag has been introduced since 7.2, since that's apparently what SWR is telling us.

About the rule system, Kitaru has been thinking about rule changes for a long time, so it's definitely a welcome idea. You should post whatever ideas you have so that we can discuss what should be kept in the rule system and what should be thrown out.

Hope all is well!
