All,

I've been having difficulty with certain combinations - esp involving
z pieces and fitting them into places where blocks make direct drops
not possible - and was wondering.

Is there a way to setup a specific combination in nullpo and be able
to specify the piece so that you can practice the same combination
over and over (and over) just to get the keystrokes down?

I'd find this exceedingly helpful - as it stands, I've been trying to
mimic the bot in combo race mode, which is great, but some
combinations come up rare enough that you never get a chance to master
them. In addition, the clockwise/counterclockwise distinction on
pieces in which only have two possible positions (again, the z's) is
distracting because they are easy to mix up when trying to insert into
tight spots. (in fact, it took me a while to figure out exactly *why*
I couldn't insert a piece into a tight spot when I saw others on the
web do it - until I figured out oh.. there are two ways to rotate
it..)

Anyways, I'm willing to deal with the last point because most tetris
clones have the same distinction but it would be nice to be able to
practice these tricky combinations over and over until they were
hardwired.

Thanks much,

Ed

hello,

there is practice mode where you can enable only certain pieces. If
that is not enough and you know bit of programing, making randomizer
than output sequence you want is very trivial task. There is
Nullpomino mod that adds bunch of practice features:
http://harddrop.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4022 , you may find
something for you in there.

about Z and S rotation in SRS i also find that confusing and always
press wrong rotation, but nullpomino focus on imitating existing
games' mechanics rather than inventing its own. You can try other
rules, for example CLASSIC3, that is far less confusing. But what is
good about SRS rules (Standard-*) is that many games use it, so you
don't need to relearn things when moving between games.
