I'm sure it has already been brought up, but I think it does not make sense that the rule decides what number of piece previews you will have.
Why not remove the rules altogether, only keep das settings and rotation system as options, put everything else in the rooms settings? it would make more sense to me.
Also for the presets a good idea would be to store them in the server so that you dont have to copy paste the preset strings. They would be ranked by popularity, which would be computed by number of games played with them.

i agree with the rule settings. it's been discussed many times before
that the rules should not control so much. the rules should be removed
or maybe kept as a game tuning 'preset'. options such as rotation,
previews, randomizer, piece spawn above/below ceiling should be
configurable.

i don't agree with the presets being ranked by popularity. they should
be carefully chosen. right now, i see problems with many of the modes
that go unnoticed. if it were ranked by popularity, these broken rooms
can't be fixed.

Yeah configurable in the room settings right? It makes no sense that someone that uses a randomizer plays against someone using another randomizer for example

yeah you may be right but i think the more you rely on admins or a certain cast of people to be responsible for maintaining configurable things, the less sustainable it will be on the long term because you will not always have admins around. Existing admins will quit tetris, you will have to nominate new ones, which needs approval of super-admin, who may be busy with other things etc... With  the examples of blockbox and cultris you can see that the super-admins eventually involve themselves less and less even if they keep the server online.
Therefore, I think most of the configuration powers should be left to standard users, with protection systems  such as "popularity ranking" to limit abuse.
