Hi Null members,

Can anybody upload/ share the link for Nipper tool? Actually I am looking for exe which can be run directly, but what http://sourceforge.net/projects/nipper/ gives is the version (1.0) which is a zip file. And you need to compile the C files in order to run it, which is throwing lots of errors which I can't debug at the moment due to shortage of time.

Can anybody help me with the older version of Nipper ( something like, 0.12.6), which can be run in the form of exe?
Thanks in advance!

Nilesh,

The last free version of Nipper was 0.9.6 and I remember downloading it a long time back. I do not have the executable with me but you may want to search around that version. You can also try their trial version that allows to analyze three devices.

Cheers,
Gursev

Correct Gursev sir!
Now they have made it commercial and the versions available free at 'Sourceforge' is something else not the real Nipper tool. Anyways, just have learned that it's available on BT5 r2, so upgrading to that.

Got it onto BT5 R2...just upgrade to the R2 ...and give the following command:
apt-get install nipper-ng

Thanks to all for the advice!

http://code.google.com/p/nipper-ng/

From the site

Nipper-ng is the next generation of nippper, and will always remain free and open source. This software will be used to make observations about the security configurations of many different device types such as routers, firewalls, and switches of a network infrastructure.

This is a fork from nipper 0.11.10 release of the GNUv3 GPL code. I don't know how bad it is, however it's a starting place to work from. The goal being able to output something that could be used for reporting device configuration weaknesses.
