Hey guys,

Need you help in blocking Zenmate plugin. I am sure some of you guys might have tried to block it, so request you to kindly share the fix. we use Sophos web proxy and Snort.

Tried searching on-line, but could not find a tried and tested fix.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards
Sharad

Why don't you simply configure a GPO as mentioned in the Chrome docs. Whereby, this plugin can't be installed in chrome.

http://www.chromium.org/administrators/policy-list-3#ExtensionInstallBlacklist

ExtensionInstallBlacklist

Configure extension installation blacklist
Data type:
List of strings
Windows registry location:
Software\Policies\Chromium\ExtensionInstallBlacklist
Mac/Linux preference name:
ExtensionInstallBlacklist
Supported on:
  • Chromium (Linux, Mac, Windows) since version 8
  • Chromium OS (Chromium OS) since version 11
Supported features:
Dynamic Policy Refresh: Yes, Per Profile: Yes
Description:
Allows you to specify which extensions the users can NOT install. Extensions already installed will be removed if blacklisted. A blacklist value of '*' means all extensions are blacklisted unless they are explicitly listed in the whitelist. If this policy is left not set the user can install any extension in Chromium.
Example value:
Windows:
Software\Policies\Chromium\ExtensionInstallBlacklist\1 = "extension_id1" Software\Policies\Chromium\ExtensionInstallBlacklist\2 = "extension_id2"
Linux:
["extension_id1", "extension_id2"]
Mac:
<array> <string>extension_id1</string> <string>extension_id2</string> </array>
