Hi Parminder,

Kindly let me know whether drives are showing in disk management. If not format HDD and use recovery tools like Ontrack data recovery, Data Doctor, recover  my files & EASUS data recovery.

Hi,

One suggestion, try some live Linux distribution (e.g. knoppix, Ubuntu) on CD / DVD or USB drive to boot the system in linux (without modifying anything on hard disk). Try to recover / initialize the data if you can see your hard disk; and / or use any the linux based recovery tools.

hi parminder
you can use forensic tools like FTK imager,
and data recovery tools like Easus data recovery / GeT NTFS or GET FAT from Hiren bootcd definitely these will work

hi sudhakar

i have the problem that my hdd is not getting detected, i used it with the usb casing and it did show in disk management but no partitions showed up and it was uninitialized. i guess for a hdd to work it has to be initialized(correct me if m wrong), but i m not able to initialize it under disk management it shows crc error and otherwise it doesnt show up in my computer or is not detected by bios if conect to sata slot in laptop.
i just had this query if the hdd is not detected then will the data recovery tools work???

thanks

Hi Parminder,

Even i faced same problem once your HDD was crashed due to power failure. Take a backup image of HDD with hiren boot cd norton ghost.

After Imaging was completed format the drive and create partitions use some recovery tools to recover data.
Some times HDD will permanently fail as booting device but it can work as pocket drive but you cannot use bootable HDD. else check whether u r able to boot with same HDD after installing OS.

You can use clonezilla instead of Ghost. Its open source and it gets
the job done!
