Hi,
Varsha/Sahana, please send the updated Excel spreadsheet to the group.
Everyone else, please go through the spreadsheet. It details out the status of various colleges that we've sent out the pre-invite to. There might be situations where some action needs to be taken, such as providing a phone number where we don't have on/calling someone up to find out by when they're planning to confirm participation etc.
In the meantime, I've started working on the official invite. It can only be sent out in the first week of January because we need the Vice Chancellor's digital signature on it. By then it might be too late for some colleges, therefore we need them to confirm and go ahead with their end of the work (tickets, permissions, exemptions, blah) right now. We can't really spell it out to them in this manner, but whichever college is open now, should get working on it. The others we can worry about in Jan.
On the money front, we aren't doing much better. The only real hope was with Rainmaker and while I write this, its been six days since they promised to get back to us. Tomorrow, i.e. Monday, the 20th, I'll call them back and find out what is up. Jena has promised his full support in terms of whatever he can provide from the SJA. I'm trying to speak with certain alumni who were around when Invicta came into existence. They should help us but that'll come to a total of around 30 grand. We'll still need a lot more than that. Most people are at home and hopefully some of you or your friends can find something in terms of money. People from second year and above, please speak to alumni that you know.
Field bookings have almost been finalized but the money still needs to be paid and I'm paying off whatever I can with what I have and stalling the others.
This is just to keep you guys up to date with what is going on. I'm hoping some of you have noticed that an essential part is missing here. I haven't mentioned anything about accommodation. Thats because I have nothing. If we do get 200+ participants, I'm hoping we have somewhere to put them up.
This is just a taste of what is going to be upon us when we come back in January. Hope you're all enjoying your vacations. Please waste some of your precious time working on the sponsorships and the colleges we're inviting. It'll go a long way in reducing the burden in the long term.
Cheers,
Piyush.
