Kudos on the latest preview and whatnot, but us vendors and ecosystem partners are still pretty much in the dark about what's happening with 3.0.
We don't know when RTM will be (aside from "sometime in September 2014"). We have no documentation on new conventions/concepts. We have no API. No source code. And, a preview portal that we can't even reverse engineer because it throws random error messages. This makes it impossible to do any sort of planning for our products, which as you know, are used by quite a lot of our mutual customers. This all feels pretty un-Microsoft (we've already doing some Win10 testing) and pretty un-OpenSource.
I know how much work it is to write up all this docs, and I get limited resources and all that, and that's fine... but could you guys at least commit to a 2-hour conference call that can fill in the key ecosystem partners on what your plans are? We don't need solid commitments, or final details. Right now, all we have is wild-ass guesses about what you could possibly mean when you say things like, "we’re working to abandon installation-time package conventions".
There's not a lot of us, but this will save everyone (especially our mutual customers) headaches later. I think we can count the likely attendees on one hand, maybe two, and I'm pretty sure I have all of their email addresses and we can find a time that works for everyone. LMK.
