Hi All,

Hope this message finds everyone well?

Apologies for the mass email, though can't remember who was on the list for new year.

I have just received an email for new year for payment of the balance.

Realistically the trip is looking less likely each day.

We have the following options from Cottages.com:

Your options
You do not need to do anything and the options listed below are not available to you if your booking can go ahead in compliance with the regulations.

You should not be making use of your booking if doing so would be in breach of the COVID-19 regulations applicable to your booking.  Therefore, affected customers have the following options:

    • Reduce the number of people associated with your affected booking if you have a booking for more people than is permitted under the applicable party size rules. You can do this here.
    • Cancel your existing affected booking and request a voucher so that you can make a new booking for a later date.
    • Cancel your existing affected booking and request a cash refund of what you have paid.
We can't reduce the numbers, so it would make sense to either:
  1. Cancel and get our money back.
  2. Postpone to next year, though not sure if we had anything in the pipe line.
Let me know your thoughts.

All the best,

James

Personally I'd be happy deferring for a year to the 2021/22 hogmanay week. Saves us having to come up with a new plan.
Cheers
Will

Agreed, if we can transfer the booking to Hogmanay week next year that would be ideal. Well, less ideal than me discovering a cure for covid down the back of the sofa, but you get the point.

Cheers,

Delaying by a year seems the most sensible :-(

Two more votes for postponing here. Sigh. Thanks for following up on this James.

If nothing planned for next year, postponing seems sensible, at least it carries over the work already done of arranging it. It's sad to think itl be the first no NUFWAS New Year in what? a decade, especially given the year(!), but from the looks of the letter, going forward risks losing the money if restrictions stop us going last minute.

Given the circumstances, travelling from all over the country to share germs probably not the best idea ..if Laxford Bridge and the chicken pox year are anything to go on ;)

:(

The text indicates a booking is cancelled first and then rebooked via the voucher. I think it's just worth checking it's available next year first.

Hi all,

Just double checked, still available for next year.

Still on hold, 50 minutes and counting!

Will let you know how I get on.

Hi All,

Success. Re booked for 28th December 2021.

Price has increased by about £28, total, but otherwise the same. Deposit transferred over.

Should be no need for payment for a year.
