I've just had my say on the matter. As a single guy myself, I think that
it's quite patronising for some clubs to treat ALL single guys like they are
perverts or potential threats to women and children there.

From my experience, the sleazoids that I've encountered in nudist places
have almost exclusively been married males.

I also think that the nudist movement's failure to infiltrate mainstream
society and do something to educate the masses about our lifestyle is the
reason why there are still a number of male perverts in the world today.

If we were more out-there about ourselves, eventually the masses would get
more used to us and guys would just take nudism for granted instead of
seeing it as something unusual or special.

Some guys have been lucky enough to meet their future wives at nudist places
and have never been a trouble to anybody there - so come on clubs, give
people the benefit of the doubt why doncha? ;-)

What does everyone else reckon?

I 'reckon' you are right, Dario. Even among nudists there is a
close-minded, non-accepting group that labels all nude singles as perverted.
Frankly, if I'm looking for some really hot bodies to ogle the last place in
the world I'm going is to a nudist establishment. Collectively, nudists are
not the most attractive people on the block. If you don't want someone to
see you naked don't go to a nudist park.

I hate to say this but the absolute truth is.....as long as the
"nudity = sex" mindset persists in our country discrimination against
the single male will always be there. AANR turns a deaf ear to it as
well as allowing member clubs to operate pretty much as they please.
No standards have been set. Nobody will take AANR to court over mass
discrimination larely because of two simple reasons: (1) It takes
money to do that and (2) Nobody wants to be publicly identified as a
nudist, which is an automatic built in shield.

You are fighting a nobel but losing battle that you will never win.

It would help if single guys would have a place wether permanent or
part time at the nudist resorts and people would have time to meet and
appreciate who they are for a person. Then again, its always nice to
have a place to go to at 1 or 2 resorts you patronize.

I don't know where you all are located but want to let you know that Avalon in Paw Paw, WV welcomes singles and tatoos & whatever you are as long as you behave.  We have lots of single males who are valuable members of our resort.  I think these other resorts are small minded. My 2-cents worth. Feel free to visit Avalon anytime.

De Anza Springs Resort is cool as well in San Diego, as long as you
act normal and don't ask stupid questions.

I went to the midwinter festival at Sunsport Gardens in Loxahatchee, Fla. (west of West Palm Beach) in Feb. I'd never been there before, and make few resort visits as my wife won't go to a resort or club with me,p lus I live only 9 miles/15 minutes from Haulover nude beach near Miami. However I felt toally welcome there. Sunsport doesn't care if you're male, female, single, married (with or without your spouse), straight, gay, or whatever. They have no rules about body jewelry or tattoos either.  They don't sell alcohol but you can bring your own. The only rules have to do with behavior and photography. They're not fancy like Paradise or Caliente but they have a great pool, hot tub sauna, a little gym, other sports facilities and a great nature trail.  It's 80 miles from Miami Beach, where Iive, so too far for day visits, but I will be at the festival again next year!

On the "Vintage Male" article......The story is absolutely correct in
every respect....."in general, a heavy over-balance of men does drive
women members away" the article says.

Men drive single women away if nudity is involved, period.

Why has this been so forever? The answer is really simple.....men's
sexuality and women's sexuality are two entirely different things.
Nude strangers are emotionally perceived as a "threat" by women and
always will be. Women feel most vunerable in that enviorment.

If you want to attract more women start clubs that admit women
only....no men, single or married. Problem solved.

One word about the phrase "No singles" That is an overused and
misguided phrase to keep some clubs hinnies out of the gender
discrimination legal sling. What they mean most of the time
is.......males are admitted under strict conditions (clubs that openly
practice gender disctimination often referred to as "gender
balancing") while females are admitted unrestricted. "No singles"
should mean "no singles" of either gender if you are going to be
legal.

It has already been proven over the last seventy years that attracting
single women under the current nudist club envoirment is a lost cause.

Hey Joe,

"On the "Vintage Male" article......The story is absolutely correct in
every respect....."in general, a heavy over-balance of men does drive
women members away" the article says.

How do you know this as an absolute? It's a strawman argument. I've been
to nudist meetups whereby there has been only one woman present and they
weren't perturbed by the fact they were the only woman there at all.

"Why has this been so forever? The answer is really simple.....men's
sexuality and women's sexuality are two entirely different things.
Nude strangers are emotionally perceived as a "threat" by women and always
will be. Women feel most vunerable in that enviorment."

Again, a strawman argument. It comes down to social conditioning of the
sexes.

"If you want to attract more women start clubs that admit women only....no
men, single or married. Problem solved."

Bullshit. Women need to learn to start taking the bull by the horns and
start realising that not all nudity is to do with sex orgies. They need to
start being women, not scared little girls.

"One word about the phrase "No singles" That is an overused and misguided
phrase to keep some clubs hinnies out of the gender discrimination legal
sling. What they mean most of the time is.......males are admitted under
strict conditions (clubs that openly practice gender disctimination often

"No singles" should mean "no singles" of either gender if you are going to
be legal."

On this I will agree.

"It has already been proven over the last seventy years that attracting
single women under the current nudist club envoirment is a lost cause."

It has been proven more that the nudists have done NOTHING to change
society, largely because most of them are too scared to come out of the
closet and be honest and upfront about their lifestyle. Fear and ignorance
are the two enemies of naturism. I've known guys who were scared to go to
nudist places because they were worried they'd get hit onto if they were to
get their gear off.

One can argue about this until one is blue in the face. Still, the
fact remains, the situation will stay exacty the same forever and a
day.

You choose the reason........

The reason is that as a society we don't train our girls to be brave, bold
and brash like Xena Warrior Princess. There ought to be nudist versions of
her and the world would be a much better place. ;-)

I agree up to a point, Joe. But the truth is there have been enormous
changes in attitudes about nudity and sexual mores in the U.S. that began in
the late 60's with the hippies, free lovers etc. The very fact that nudist
resorts can advertise openly in national media and that there is more bare
skin around the nation than ever before in its history provides ample proof.
A lot of the prudishness that characterized the U.S. before the 60s has
disappeared or gone underground. It will take decades longer for nudity to
be completely acceptable and there always will be an element of the populace
who will hiss and boo and try to shame those who choose a nude lifestyle but
their complaints fall increasingly on deaf ears. Unless the evangelical tea
partiers are able to gain much greater power in government and attempt to
suppress nudity and nudist clubs, I see a steady expansion in nudity and a
greater and greater acceptance of modern sexual mores. The two go hand in
hand.

JBOLOW:

On your article, I agree.

The free sex and let it all hang out anti establishment drug movement
of the sixties has given birth to it's fruit thru it's grandchildren.

"I see a steady expansion in nudity and a greater acceptance of modern
sexual mores. The two go hand in hand," you say.

Again, I couldn't agree more.

Thank you.

Why don't we just put this subject to rest, because you nor I will
live to see any positive change in our lifetime. It needs a couple of
more generations. That's all.
