Subject: Daniel Ellsberg’s urgent warning on
nuclear weapons
Hi Hub Leaders!
I wanted to make sure this event was on your radar and ask you to consider joining us, if you’re able.
On Thursday, June 4, at 8 p.m. ET, there will be an online premiere of An Ordinary Insanity, a short film by Oscar-nominated director Judith Ehrlich about the current threat of nuclear weapons. The film features the late Daniel Ellsberg speaking directly and powerfully about the urgent danger posed by nuclear weapons, especially ICBMs, and the need for people to take action to reduce that threat.
I never had the chance to meet Daniel Ellsberg personally, but like so many of us in this work, I’ve been deeply influenced by his courage, clarity, and moral seriousness. His journey from national security insider and nuclear war planner to whistleblower, peace activist, and one of the most important voices warning against nuclear catastrophe remains profoundly inspiring.
Judith filmed Ellsberg just one year before he died in June 2023. Even at 91, he speaks with remarkable clarity and urgency. Early in the film, he says, “I’ve long said that to my last breath I will be doing what I can to postpone and avert the risk of nuclear war.”
The film is only 29 minutes long, and there will be brief remarks afterward from several activists. The showing is free, but registration is required.

I hope you’ll consider attending. And just as importantly, I’d be grateful if you would share this invitation with your hub members and others in your local networks who might be interested.
This feels like a meaningful opportunity to bring more people into conversation about the nuclear threat and the urgent need for action, especially through the voice and witness of someone who spent his life trying to pull us back from the brink.
I appreciate you all!
With
gratitude,
Jeremy
