No: 26-009-A May 11, 2026 NRC to Hold Hybrid Public Meeting on Part 53ROCKVILLE, Md. — The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting on the 10 CFR Part 53 final rule, “Risk-Informed, Technology-Inclusive Regulatory Framework for Commercial Nuclear Plants,” published March 30. The rule became effective on April 29. What: Hybrid public meeting for the NRC staff to provide a general introduction and overview of the final rule and related implementation activities, and respond to participant questions. When: Monday, May 18, 1:00-2:30 pm Eastern time Where: Commission Hearing Room, One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville Maryland How: Participants may attend in person or online via Microsoft Teams. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission was created as an expert, technical agency to protect public health, safety, and security, and regulate the civilian use of nuclear materials, including enabling the deployment of nuclear power for the benefit of society.
