Dear friends,

Thanks to all of you who sent information to include in a compilation of national and local organizations in the U.S. working to promote nuclear disarmament and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (see below).

And thanks to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons for their continued work to eliminate nuclear weapons from the world. Please follow ICAN on social media and sign up on their website to receive email updates: https://www.icanw.org/.

Also, you can watch ICAN’s  “MSP-TV” episodes for a summary, highlights and insights from the Nuclear Ban Week events at the U.N. in New York during the Third Meeting of States Parties: https://www.icanw.org/msp_tv

Together all of our efforts for a nuclear-free future make a difference - onward!

Peace,

* The Disarm/End Wars Committee of Women's International League for Peace & Freedom, US Section - https://wilpfus.orghttps://wilpfus.org/our-work/disarm-end-wars-issue-committee/ - disar...@wilpfus.org - has been working since 1915 to end wars, and since 1945 to abolish nuclear weapons; actively involved in the establishment of the United Nations; a member of International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, representing branches all over the United States, which is a Section of International WILPF - https://wilpf.org.

* Proposition One Campaign for a Nuclear-Free Future (via Ellen Thomas of Proposition One Committee), 401 Wilcox Road, Tryon, NC 28782, e...@prop1.org, a 501-c-4 non-profit since 1990 working to abolish nuclear weapons and use the money instead for carbon-free, nuclear-free energy, environmental restoration, and other human needs through legislation and education (see http://prop1.org; also see https://www.facebook.com/nucnews/).

* I work for Pax Christi USA, a faith-based movement for nonviolence, as its adviser on nuclear disarmament. We are a grassroots organization with over 35,000 members across the U.S. which works to promote nonviolence, social and economic justice, disarmament and care of the earth through prayer, study and action. Our website is www.paxchristiusa.org and our Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/PaxChristiUSA/. I remain the contact person for anything to do with disarmament.

* NuclearBan.US is now subsumed under the Warheads to Windmills Coalition, a national coalition of 70 (so far) organizations committed to a nuclear weapon-free and fossil fuel-free world. Our goal is to get the US government to phase out all nuclear weapons and fossil fuels before it’s too late.

The Coalition promotes legislation and lobbies politicians, but our primary strategy is to pressure the fossil fuel and nuclear weapons companies to make that case to the government for us, since they have power and influence over US policy that we do not. We work together to boycott, divest from, and stigmatize these profiteers.

NuclearBan.US and TreatyAlignment.US are providing the Coalition with resources like research, toolkits, websites, databases, fundraising, and administrative support.

* I belong to Voices for a Nuclear Free Future, a Cooperation Circle of United Religions Initiative. Started 25 years ago by Rev. William Swing, Dr. Sidney Drell, James Goodby, Tom Graham, Jonathan Granoff, Monica Willard, George Schultz, and William Perry, Voices concentrates on the spiritual aspects of nuclear disarmament.

There are two major activities each year.  First is a Youth Award, to recognize and encourage a young person's activity; the second is Nuclear Prayer Day, on August 6th, which gathers a wide array of religious, spiritual, and disarmament groups to pray for a nuclear free future.   This year is the 80th anniversary of the bombs dropped on Japan, and many events are planned.  Monica Willard, who represents Voices at the UN, is working to have a ceremony there.

* The Veterans For Peace Golden Rule Project is a national organization in the U.S. dedicated to promoting nuclear disarmament and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). Since its historic voyage in 1958 to protest nuclear testing in the Pacific, the Golden Rule has sailed over 20,000 nautical miles, visiting ports across the U.S. and beyond to educate communities about the dangers of nuclear weapons and radiation to humanity and the environment.

Today, the Golden Rule continues its mission by:

- Advocating for a Nuclear-Free Future: Through public events, educational programs, and partnerships with organizations like the Back from the Brink we raise awareness about the devastating impacts of nuclear weapons and power.

- Building a Movement for Peace: With over 10,000 subscribers and a growing network of supporters, we inspire individuals and communities to take action for a world free from the threat of nuclear war and disasters.

- Connecting Global Efforts: We collaborate with local and international groups to amplify the call for nuclear disarmament and support the TPNW.

While our primary focus is on nuclear disarmament, we recognize the interconnectedness of these issues with broader environmental and social challenges.
