Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Thanks to everyone who took part, and helped in other ways, to protest Holtec's Palisades "zombie" reactor restart scheme! It is unprecedented, unneeded, insanely expensive for the public, and extremely high-risk for health, safety, security, and the environment!

I'd estimate 75 to 100 participated at the noon rally, and around 50 at the 4:30pm rally.

Here is the media coverage:

and

Also, Iris Potter of the Palisades Shutdown Campaign has posted video footage she filmed at the group's Facebook Page:

The yard signs were designed by the Palisades Shutdown Campaign, and Michigan Safe Energy Future-Kalamazoo Chapter. Iris Potter and Tom Duffield have very generously donated them to the cause. (If you'd like a yard sign, let me know -- we'll figure out how to get it to you.)

Thanks again, Happy Halloween weekend, and "No Nukes!"

P.S. Here is the related Beyond Nuclear and Don't Waste Michigan press release:

And a one-stop-shop of Beyond Nuclear web posts about Palisades, arranged chronologically backwards from the present to April 2022, can be found here. That was the month these particular unthinkable nuclear nightmares began 3.5 years ago: Holtec’s CEO Krishna Singh first floated “Small Modular Reactor” construction/operation at Palisades, and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer first floated the zombie reactor restart scheme. Both nightmarish nuclear schemes broke the promise to decommission the supposedly closed for good Palisades reactor instead, representing a big lie, con job, and bait and switch trick regarding how Holtec got hold of Palisades in the first place!
