Intel
Fox News hires Palantir to build AI newsroom
tools
- Fox
News is
investing
heavily in AI
infrastructure, leveraging Palantir to build custom tools that automate
newsroom
tasks; its
parent
company, Fox
Corp.,
generated over
$1.2 billion
in annual net
income, giving
it the
financial
capacity to
pursue
commercial-only
AI deals that
most newsrooms
cannot afford.
- To
protect its
intellectual
property, Fox
News’ AI
agreements
prohibit
partners from
training on or
exploiting its
content — a
sharp contrast
to typical
industry
partnerships,
where AI firms
often gain
training
rights from
publishers;
this approach
comes as over
200 news
outlets
worldwide have
raised legal
or financial
concerns about
AI scraping.
- The
collaboration
has already
produced tools
like “topic
radar,” “text
editor,” and
“article
insights,”
which
streamline
reporting and
content
optimization;
newsroom
studies show
that
automating
repetitive
tasks can free
up 20–30% of
journalists’
time, allowing
teams to focus
more on
original
reporting and
audience
engagement.
