Nuclear power is often discussed in terms of science, technology, economics and statistics. What's missing is the human face on the story. In writing her book, No To Nuclear. Why Nuclear Power Destroys Lives, Derails Climate Progress And Provokes WarPence endeavors to explore different ways of telling the nuclear story, from the perspective of the people — and sometimes the animals — to whom it happens. The wrongheaded nuclear choice wasn't made in isolation. Instead, it appears to be part of a self-destructive pathway on which we are now accelerating toward our inevitable demise. Can we stop that from happening? And if so, how do we communicate the twin evils of nuclear power and nuclear weapons so everyone can understand it?

Linda Pentz Gunter is the founder of the US-based non-profit Beyond Nuclear and serves as its Executive Director. She also launched and writes for her organization's news platform, Beyond Nuclear International. A former journalist with Reuters, she currently writes for the Morning Star (UK) and Ralph Nader's Capitol Hill Citizen.
