On Dec 5, 2025, Dr. Gordon Edwards, president of the Canadian Coalition for Nuclear Responsibility (CCNR), gave the first in a series of short talks on selected nuclear topics.

Nuclear promoters often extoll thorium-fuelled reactors as an exciting  alternative to uranium- or plutonium-fuelled reactors, often claiming that the thorium option is virtually problem-free

Several activists and organizations in Canada wanted to know more about thorium and its characteristics. It was chosen as the first topic in this series.

The event was hosted by Angela Bischoff of the Ontario Clean Air Alliance (OCAA). Q&A was moderated by Susan O’Donnell of the Coalition for Responsible Energy Development in New Brunswick (CRED-NB), assisted by Jule Asterisk of the Regional Environmental Action Committee (REAC) of Alberta .
