Ellen Thomas -
I think you know the answer to that question,
as the great Edwin Starr sang, “Absolutely
nuthin'!”
Three weeks ago, the House of Representatives
narrowly failed to pass an Iran War Powers
Resolution, introduced in bipartisan fashion
by US Representatives Thomas Massie (R-KY) and
Ro Khanna (D-CA), to assert congressional
authority over decisions of war and peace, as
the Constitution clearly requires.
And last week, the Senate failed to pass its
own War Powers Resolution, on a mostly
partisan line vote.
This week, the House and Senate are again
expected to vote to oppose Donald Trump’s
senseless, illegal war of aggression on Iran,
which has predictably lit the region on fire
and significantly damaged the global economy.
The cost of Trump’s war of choice is already
skyrocketing into the tens of billions, and
the Pentagon is expected to ask for an
additional $200 billion in the coming days. With
thousands of additional U.S. troops being
moved into the region for a possible ground
invasion, we must continue to ramp up the
pressure on Congress to reclaim its
constitutional authority on war
authorization!

MAKE URGENT CALLS TO YOUR ELECTED
OFFICIALS TODAY!
1) Call the Congressional switchboard at 202-224-3121
2) Ask to be connected to your rep's office,
and repeat for each of your two senators. Make
3 calls!!!
3) Once connected, give them this message (in
as many of your own words as possible):
Hello, my name is ____________
and I'm a voting constituent from (your
city). Trump’s war of choice with Iran is
an illicit and unauthorized war. Congress
must act immediately to use every ounce of
its influence and constitutional authority
to prevent further violence and
destruction — which a majority of
Americans continue to oppose.
As your constituent, I insist
that you support a War Powers Resolution (HOUSE: H.Con.Res
40; SENATE:
S.Res 116) to stop President Trump from
continuing to wage his unauthorized and
unpopular war with Iran. It is past time
for Congress to fulfill its Constitutional
authority and vote to require
authorization of any further military
assault against Iran. I demand that the
representative/senator support this War
Powers Resolution. Thank you.

At times like these, it is hard to know what
to do to stop the horror our government does
in our names, even as most Americans oppose
this awful war. One thing we can
never do, however, is let them stop feeling
the heat from the Pro-Peace majority, over
and over, until this war ends!
In addition to your calls, if you are able
and available, please help Peace Action and
our allies deliver the strongest visible
anti-war message possible by attending or
organizing a No Kings event this Saturday,
March 28.
Together, and only together, we can end this
horrific tragedy.
Peacefully,
Kevin Martin, President
Peace Action
P.S. The Senate vote is expected as early as
TONIGHT, so call today! The House vote could
come within the following day or two.
P.P.S. After you make your calls, please
forward this email to friends, family and
colleagues and ask them to do the same!
