DEEP
FISSION MEETS...
The
Prairie Dog Alliance
Forty
residents gathered in
a community hall in
Parson, Kansas to
learn about an
experimental nuclear
power reactor launched
by a two-year old
start-up company, Deep
Fission. The plan
is to operate the
reactor a mile deep
down a bore hole. This
was the first public
educational meeting of
the Prairie
Dog Alliance. Deep
Fission, sponsored by
the Department of
Energy, is targeting
this July 4 to
complete the reactor
design, license it,
build the reactor,
frack the mile deep
borehole, and start
the fission reaction.
The DOE is selecting
some reactor start-up
companies for “categorical
exclusion” from
environmental reviews
required under the
National Environmental
Policy Act. The rock
body is both credited
for the reactor’s
radiation containment
and nuclear waste
disposal.

WHO
GETS NUKES?
Iran
negotiations resume
Which countries are allowed to have nuclear
weapons? The
nuclear-armed nations
say only they are.
This includes Israel,
which is officially an
“undeclared” atomic
weapon state, even
though the UN General
Assembly adopts a
resolution every year
asking Israel to
disarm. Iran says it
is abiding by the
nuclear
Non-Proliferation
Treaty but the US and
Israel bombed its
nuclear facilities
(see map) just to make
sure. Now the Trump
administration is
trying to renegotiate
a deal that would stop
Iran making the bomb,
even though there was
a perfectly good
agreement in place
already that Trump
blew up in May 2018.
He sent his
beachfront-greedy
son-in-law to Oman
last week as one of
his negotiators. The
talks will reportedly
continue.
