Iinstalled the app Teamviewer on my tablet. It gives me the connection to my laptop. So last time I was with a customer working on my BI Desktop report with my tablet while Power BI Desktop was running on my laptop (my laptop was at home while I was somewhere else). It does mean that my laptop needs to be active the whole time, but for those times I will be away it helps knowing I can work anywhere on my reports on Power BI Desktop.

Since i was neither able to Uninstall the existing version of PowerBI in an attempt to do a clean install nor i was able to install the latest version (32 or 64 bit) of Power BI Desktop that i had downloaded from MSFT Website, I did the following.

I found an older version of the PBI Desktop in my downloads folder and used that installter to first downgrade my installation and thankfully that installation worked properly and it replaced my existing version of Power BI with an older version of PBI.

To see if your machine meets these requirements, check your Windows version and build number by opening a Run dialog (Win+R), then type winver and select OK or Enter. Alternatively, enter the ver command in Windows Command Prompt. You may be able to update to the latest Windows version in Windows Update.

If you have an issue where the MSI is not accessible, you can download the installer that corresponds with the installed version via the PowerToys release page and then run the following command. You'll need to change EXECUTABLE_INSTALLER_NAME to the actual file name.

PowerToys uses an auto-updater that checks for new versions when the app is running. If enabled, a toast notification will appear when an update is available. Updates can also be checked for manually from the PowerToys Settings.

With Power BI Desktop, you can build advanced queries, models, and reports that visualize data. You can also build data models, create reports, and share your work by publishing to the Power BI service. Power BI Desktop is a free download.

Power BI Desktop is updated and released on a monthly basis, incorporating customer feedback and new features. Only the latest version of Power BI Desktop is supported. You'll be asked to upgrade the application to the latest version if you contact Support for Power BI Desktop. You can get the latest version of Power BI Desktop from the Windows Store, or as a single executable containing all supported languages that you download and install on your computer.

Power BI Desktop ships as a single .exe installation package that contains all supported languages, with separate .exe files for the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The .msi packages are no longer available. You need the executable for installation. This approach makes distribution, updates, and installation easier and more convenient, especially for administrators. You can also use command-line parameters to customize the installation process, as described in Using command-line options during installation.

Installing the deprecated msi version and the Microsoft Store version of Power BI Desktop on the same computer. Sometimes referred to as a side-by-side installation isn't supported. Manually uninstall Power BI Desktop before you download it from the Microsoft Store.

We recommend using a client version of Windows, such as Windows 10, instead of Windows Server. Power BI Desktop doesn't support Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration because it will stop Power BI Desktop from signing in to the Power BI service.

When you install Power BI Desktop, you can set properties and options with command-line switches. These settings are especially useful for administrators who manage or facilitate the installation of Power BI Desktop across organizations.

If you're deploying Power BI Desktop to your users with a tool that requires a Windows installer file (.msi file), you can extract the .msi file from the Power BI Desktop installer .exe file. Use a third-party tool, such as WiX Toolset.

Upgrading an install from an .exe to an .msi* that you've extracted from an .exe isn't supported. In order to make this upgrade, first you'll need to uninstall the older version of Power BI Desktop that you have.

We recommend updating to the most recent version of Power BI Desktop to take advantage of advances in features, performance, stability, and other improvements. Some organizations might not want users to update to each new version. You can disable notifications by modifying the registry with the following steps:

I just got an old used SMT-1500 ups from a buddy, and it sees to be working well, but I'm trying to install the PowerChute software to have my PC (Win10) hibernate if the power fails (which it does sometimes out here), and it's giving me the error:

I am developing an application on a Linux embedded board (runs Debian) e.g. Raspberry Pi, Beagle Board/Bone, or olimex. The boards works on an environment that the electricity is cut unexpectedly (it is far complicated to place PSU, etc.) and it would happen every day couple times. I wonder if the unexpected power cuts would cause crash/problem on the Linux Operation System? If it is something that I should worry, what would you suggest to prevent the damages on OS against the unexpected power cuts?

Unexpected power cuts may cause corruption of file system data - e.g. if a process has started writing to a file, but not yet finished writing it, the file may end up only half written. Now imagine if the power cut happens when you're half way through a kernel upgrade...
