A clean install of Windows 7/8/10 can fix many problems, but to some users, it brings new problem: the Windows can't connect to internet because the Ethernet controller driver/network adapter driverismissing. But without internet, how are they supposed to download and install network adapter driver and other drivers? If you are also troubled by this dilemma, here is two ways to install drivers without internet connection on Windows 7/8/10/XP/Vista.
Note: It is necessary to have a backup of drivers on your computer so that if the drivers are deleted accidentally, become corrupted or incompatible, you can get back the drivers easily.
Step 2. On a computer with workable Wi-Fi or other network connection, go to the website of the device manufacturer and search for the network driver that is right for your network card. If you are using a off-the-shelf computer, you can directly go to the PC manufacturer's website. Or you can go to network card manufacturer's website
If you need to install more than just network driver after a clean install of Windows system, you are suggested to install drivers without internet in a more intelligent way: using Driver Talent for Network Card (opens new window). The program is especially designed to download network drivers without internet connection.
Step 1. On the computer with Wi-Fi or wired network, download Driver Talent for Network Card.exe file. The file is a little bit large with a size of 182MB. But it takes only several minutes to download.
Step 2. Copy the .exe file to the network-disabled computer. Open the file to install the program. As the program is installed on your computer, all needed WiFi/wireless/Ethernet/wired drivers will be installed as well.
Step 3. After the installing is done, you should be able to access the internet. If you've installed the network drivers but see no internet connection, just reboot your computer for the installation to take effect.
Hello and thank you for your suggestion. I'll try it.
What ended up happening was I upgraded to Windows 11 but a couple weeks after I experienced issues, like not being able to connect to the internet, not being able to adjust the brightness (still always stuck at max brightness), and the sound output is all wonky, so I handed off my laptop to a friend and asked him to revert it back to Windows 10, which I now horribly regret.
1. By using the HP cloud recovery tool if your notebook was supported. That would have had you create a bootable USB recovery drive that would have reinstalled W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.
Hi sorry to bother you again, but my Wi-Fi adapter finally came in last night and I was able to update my laptop to Windows 11, hoping it would recover the missing drivers/adapters, but sadly that didn't happen.
I also tried downloading the drivers from the HP site by letting the site detect my laptop drivers and downloading those but my laptop still cannot connect to the internet without the Wi-Fi adapter. Running the troubleshooter for Wi-Fi/network adapters just tells me there are missing drivers.
Is there a way to fix this, or like is there something I'm doing wrong?
My HP Pavillion laptop can't connect to the internet because it doesn't have the correct drivers. It's supposed to have the network adapter called "Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX200 160 MHz" but that isn't showing in the Device Manager. So I went on separate laptop to download this adapter from the Intel website on a flashdrive to transfer it, however the network adapter won't install because "this installation requires Windows 10.017763 or newer," which I think is the equivalent of version 1809. My laptop is Windows 10 version 1803. I also tried to download the Windows 10 version 1809 update to my flashdrive, but it requires a network connection to do so. Basically I'm stuck in a loophole of not having a connection. I also tried getting an ethernet cable but my laptop doesn't have the correct port to be connected. Is there anything I can do to get an internet connection?

Each time I execute the driver installer, it waits while attempting to "Acquire information on the latest drivers" and after a few minutes it returns an error dialog which suggests that I "check the network connection and try again" Closing that dialog kills the installation with no options to continue.
This is either a serious bug in the installer, or Canon has made a VERY BAD move to only allow drivers to be installed with an internet connection. This limitation was never declared in the merchandising of this product or on the product packaging.
The Acquire information on the latest drivers message is displayed when an error occurs during the installation when the drivers and software are downloaded onto your computer. You may want to try using the bundled disc or download the individual drivers and software from the PIXMA MG3620 Drivers & Download page onto a read/writable disc or USB flash drive then install.

So I've been trying to figure out a way of doing this, but the all the resources I've come across require an internet connection. Anyway I could download the linux drivers on one computer and transfer then by usb drive?
I work on wifi at home and bought the Netgear AC600.to allow wifi on the computer. The computer currently does not have internet access. Can someone please explain how to install on a computer without internet access? No CD was provided with the adapter.
Thank you.
It seems it comes with no wifi drivers installed so I need to either somehow copy the drivers into the USB stick manually on another computer that has internet access, or somehow connect my laptop running OpenWRT to the internet.
I tried dumping mesg to a file in both the home directory and the /www/ directory but it doesnt show up when I pop my USB stick in another linux machine so getting access to the logs is too much to type out manually.
Installing a network adapter driver without internet access may seem like a daunting task, but it is actually quite simple and can be done with just a few steps. Follow these steps to install a network adapter driver without internet access:
Installing a network adapter without internet access is an easy process. All you need is the network adapter and a computer with a compatible operating system. However, the exact steps may vary depending on the type of network adapter and operating system you are using.
Once the drivers are successfully installed, the network adapter should be ready for use. Keep in mind that if you are using a wireless network adapter, you will need to configure the device in order to connect to a wireless network. This can usually be done using the software provided with the adapter, though you will need to have access to a wireless network in order to complete the configuration.
Overall, installing a network adapter without internet access is a straightforward process. All you need is the adapter and a compatible operating system, and you should be able to get the device up and running in no time.
Adding a network adapter to Windows 10 can be done manually in a few steps. To begin, you will need to open the Control Panel. On the Control Panel, select the Network and Sharing Center option. Under the Change Adapter Settings, select Add and then select Network Adapter. This will open the Add Hardware Wizard which will allow you to choose the type of network adapter that you would like to add.
Once you have selected the appropriate network adapter, click on the Next button and follow any further instructions provided. After installation, restart your computer and the network adapter should be visible in the Network and Sharing Center. You can also add a network adapter through the Device Manager. To do so, open the Device Manager from the Control Panel.
Select the Network Adapters category and click on the Add button. This will open the Add Hardware Wizard where you will be able to select the type of network adapter you would like to install. Follow any further instructions provided and restart your computer when prompted. The network adapter should then be visible in the Network Adapters category of the Device Manager.
Installing a wireless adapter driver manually can be a challenge, but it is not impossible. The first step is to identify your adapter and find the correct driver for it. You can do this by visiting the manufacturer's website and searching for your model, or checking the product manual. Once you have downloaded the driver, you should unzip it and run the setup file. This will install the driver software onto your system.
One of the most common ways to download drivers without an internet connection is to use a driver update utility. Driver update utilities are programs that scan your computer for outdated drivers and then download the latest versions for you. All you have to do is install the program and it does all the work for you.
