NU Spiritual Wellness Week
October 24-31, 2011

Explore the overlap between spirituality and wellness with these events to enhance
your body/ mind/ spirit connection! All events are free and open to all.

- Labyrinth Day
Monday, October 24, open 9- 11:30am and 2-5pm
Come to experience this wonderful form of walking meditation.
From ancient Celtic stone circles to the famed Christian Chartres Cathedral, labyrinths can be found in many
faiths. Spend as much or as little time as you want, and find peace and calm in the middle of your busy day!

 

- Guided Buddhist Meditation

Join Josh Summers for a guided Buddhist meditation

 

- Improve Your Religious IQ, Increase Your Success in Life: 
a workshop on developing religious literacy in a multi-faith world

Monday, October 24, 7- 8:30pm
Becoming more religiously literate can benefit you as a person, college student, future professional,
and world citizen.  This interactive session helps you learn about religion as a cultural competency,
and find ways to discuss sensitive topics around religion.
Led by Miriam Diamond author of Fostering Religious Literacy Across Campus

 

- 6th Annual Interfaith Progressive Dinner 
Tuesday, October 25, 6:30- 8:30pm
Join in for a fun evening! All our various faith communities get together, 
& each hosts a portion of this fantastic traveling goodwill meal. Open to 
the whole NU community! We’ll eat our way through the Sacred Space, Hillel, & the Catholic Center. 
Co-sponsored with the many campus religious/ spiritual groups.

Wednesday, October 26, 3- 3:30pm
Join Shelli Jankowski-Smith, Director of Spiritual Life, in a guided visualization for healing on all levels

 

- Interfaith Dialogue on the Shared Value of Service
Wednesday, October 26, 7- 8pm
People of all faiths, spiritualities, and levels of belief/ unbelief are invited to
join the conversation. This student-led dialogue explores how service to others impacts faith.

- “Funny Friday” Guided Laughter Meditation

Guide, Jason Jedrusiak, uses fun and laughter as ways to access full awareness J

 

- "Spirituality in the LGBTQ Community" a panel discussion and workshop
Friday, October 28, 3-5pm
Panelists will include religious leaders from the Catholic, Muslim, and Pagan/Wiccan traditions.
Join us for a discussion and workshop about forming positive relationships between LGBTQ identities,
and various religious/ spiritual identities. Leaders from faith communities will present their own
experiences, either as LGBTQ faithful persons or as supporters of the LGBTQ community.
At the Mcleod Suite, 3rd floor Curry Student Center.
Co-sponsored with Campus Activities and the NU LGBTQA Resource Center, as part of Pride Month

 

- Yoga Sampler Extravaganza! Free classes with different styles & teachers
Saturday October 29, 4 free 1-hour classes for the NU community. 
Available on walk-in basis (no pre-reg). Come to one or all! Beginner level & up. Mats provided.
  11:00am- “Open Your Heart thru Yoga” with Jackie Meyers
   12:30pm- “Radiant Vinyasa Yoga” with Lauren Clausen
   2:00pm- “Power Up & Chill Out” with Joe Froeber

- A Reiki Experience: free Reiki mini-sessions
Monday, October 31, 12noon- 3pm
Members of the NU community are invited to experience this hands-on relaxation technique,
practiced in many hospitals and health-care settings to reduce stress and enhance healing/ wellness.
15-minute sessions are offered by certified practitioners. Although walk-ins may be
accommodated, we recommend that you pre-register for your free appointment,
since limited spots are available. Call 617-373-2728 to pre-reserve a spot.

Events take place in the Sacred Space on the 2nd floor of Ell Hall, unless otherwise noted.
