Dear all,

Please post and/or distribute the attached amended CFP for Diotima: a graduate conference for feminist philosophers, rather than the initial CFP. Details are below.

Many thanks and apologies for the extra message,

Diotima: A Graduate Conference for Feminist Philosophy

The University of Western Ontario

September 23-24, 2011

CALL FOR PAPERS

Diotima aims to bring together graduate students who share an interest in feminism, post-coloniality, queer theory, critical race theory, philosophy of disability and anti-oppression theory in general, regardless of their primary area of research.

We are pleased to announce that our keynote speaker is Dr. Maggie Little, Associate Professor at Georgetown University, and Director of Georgetowns Kennedy Institute of Ethics. Dr. Littles research focuses on applied ethics, metaethics, feminist bioethics, including legal and public policy issues.

We are also pleased to announce Dr. Carolyn McLeod as our Western Faculty Keynote Speaker this year. Dr. McLeod specializes in the areas of health care ethics, ethical theory, and feminist theory. Much of her work deals with moral dilemmas occurring in reproductive health care and the moral concepts needed to resolve those dilemmas.

We invite submissions in any area of philosophy or feminist theory that have been influenced by feminist commitments broadly construed, including but not limited to:

Reproduction, pregnancy, public policy, and medical research;

Social consequences of genetic or biomedical research and treatment;

Explorations of a human/non-human divide, or personhood generally;

A discussion of a recent work or emerging political concern;

Developing interactions between theorists from different cultures;

Wilderness, the built environment, poverty and politics;

Intergenerational justice

Presenters will have 30 minutes to speak, followed by a 10-minute commentary and a 20-30 minutes discussion period. Please include an abstract of no more than 200 words with your submission.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: July 15, 2011

Please send your submissions electronically to diotim...@gmail.com. All papers will be evaluated by anonymous review; identifying information should appear in a cover letter only.
