Dear Department Contacts,
Below is a reminder announcement regarding the distribution schedule for Summer Quarter U-Passes. Please circulate it amongst your students. Distribution begins next week, so I want to circulate it again since students continue to ask about the U-Pass process.
Please note: The U-Passes have arrived at TGS, and upon inspection, we’ve noticed that their quality has changed significantly. The card itself is of a more flimsy stock and the image of student photos is poor. CTA is aware of these issues, has approved the use of this lesser quality product for the summer, and told us the change in features is due to a different vendor. They expect improvements for the fall quarter distribution. CTA tells us that the cardstock was chosen so U-Passes would not get stuck in the CTA fare machines as often as the current passes. Students should be reminded that there is no charge for a damaged or defective U-Pass.
The distribution will begin at McCormick on June 9, 2011 for one day and continue from Norris from June 10, 2011 until August 5, 2011. U-Passes will return to TGS after August 8, 2011. I will deliver Chicago Campus U-Passes to their programs as I’ve done in the past. See complete schedule below.

From Thursday, June 9, 2011 to Friday, August 5, 2011, we will be distributing Summer Quarter 2011 U-Passes (activated 06/19/2011 – 9/11/2011) from several campus locations. See tentative dates, times, and locations below.
Attention
Current Full-Time Enrolled Students
Please note: The last day students can use their Spring Quarter 2011 U-Pass will be Saturday, June 18, 2011, 11:59 p.m. The first day students can use their Summer Quarter 2011 U-Pass will be Sunday, June 19, 2011.
To take full advantage of the activity fee, including being able to use the Summer U-Pass starting on June 19, 2011, students should have registered for Summer 2011 by 5/6/11. Students who registered later than 5/6/11 will receive their U-Pass in a later distribution. The deadline to register and not have FICA taken out is still 6/24/11.
Students enrolled part-time or in TGS 512 will not be eligible for a Summer 2011 U-Pass. Should you have any questions, please see the U-Pass FAQ list or contact tgs-u...@northwestern.edu.
EVANSTON LOCATIONS
Students enrolled at the Evanston Campus will have various opportunities to pick up their U-Passes. Please bring your WildCARD for identification purposes to one of the following locations: (Note that times and dates are specific to each location.)
- 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011, at McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science: (U-Passes will be distributed on the first floor just inside the Tech main entrance, between LR2 and LR3.
- 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Friday, June 10, Monday, June 13, 2011, through Friday, August 5, 2011, at Norris University Center, Cashier's Office: on the first floor, far left of Starbucks. NOTE TO GRADUATE STUDENTS: To avoid waiting in line for the wrong service window, please go directly to the Cashier's Office, not to be confused with the nearby Norris Box Office or Student Organization Finance Office.
- 8:30-5 p.m., Monday, 8/8/2011 and thereafter, U-Passes will be distributed from The Graduate School.
CHICAGO LOCATIONS
U-Passes will be distributed to Chicago Campus students from several locations on Chicago Campus.
- The IGP, MSTP, Genetic Counseling, NUIN, and Clinical Psychology Offices will distribute U-Passes to students in their program, beginning Thursday, June 9, 2011, until they have all have been claimed.
- Students in Epidemiology/Biostatistics: MS, and BME Chicago campus students will receive U-Passes via arrangements made with The Graduate School.
All late Chicago Campus U-Passes will arrive at The Graduate School in Evanston and arrangements will be made for Chicago Campus deliveries.
During the summer quarter, The Graduate School's Chicago Campus office is open by appointment only.
