Hallo, Jen, could you send this to our graduate students - thanks a lot.
Dear philosophy graduate students,
just to remind you about the party /information session this Thursday
night (info below) for graduate students who might be interested in a
critical theory affiliation, and who might not yet have set it up. Its
partly an end of year get together, but its also to give more
information on what is available for students affiliated with the
cluster- this includes- funding for reading groups, possibility of
bringing speakers, sometimes some top up for conference attendance
(funds allowing), a certificate in critical theory, and contact with
graduate students sharing the affiliation and related interests across a
number of programs and departments at NU. Even if you are not able to
attend the party/information session, we wonder if we could ask you to
contact m-lo...@northwestern.edu <mailto:m-lo...@northwestern.edu>
to let him know that you would like to be affiliated in some way or if
you would like to be on the mailing list for information about events.
The Critical Theory program and cluster refers to critical theory in
the broad sense- German, French, contemporary, historical , and overlaps
with what in the Philosophy department is thought of as continental or
european philosophy. For our purposes, perhaps you could think of it as
the continental philosophy tradition insofar as this tradition is
studied both in Philosophy departments and also in a number of other
departments and programs such as Comp Lip, French and German, Political
Science, Screen Cultures If you think you might like to be affiliated,
but are not sure, please do feel free to come Thursday pm, or do shoot
me (Penny) an email.
