to ntuw, Piotr Pstragowski
Hi all,

Our speaker tomorrow is UW's own Piotr Pstrągowski and he will be speaking on "The arithmetic of spheres" (abstract below). As usual we will go to lunch with the speaker after the talk.

Abstract: The plethora of connections between stable homotopy theory and number theory go back over half a century, starting with Quillen's discovery of the "chromatic picture". In recent years, this link has grown even stronger, with methods of p-adic Hodge theory finding applications to calculation of algebraic K-theory and vice versa, leading to major advances on both sides. This talk will be a gentle introduction to these phenomena.
