Subject: First Announcement – CIMPA Research School Algebraic Geometric Methods in Information Theory (AGMIIT 2026)

Dear colleagues,

This is the first announcement of the CIMPA Research School
“Algebraic Geometric Methods in Information Theory (AGMIIT 2026)”
to be held in Santa Fe, Argentina, March 2–13, 2026.

The CIMPA school will focus on the applications of algebraic geometry and number theory to coding theory and cryptography, providing a thorough introduction to both the theoretical foundations and the practical applications of these mathematical tools in information theory.

Courses

  • Finite Fields and Coding Theory – Daniel Panario (Carleton University, Canada)

  • Function Fields and Algebraic Curves over Finite Fields – Daniele Bartoli (University of Perugia, Italy) and Luciane Quoos (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

  • Elliptic Curves and Applications to Cryptography – Maria Corte-Real Santos (ENS de Lyon, France) and Travis Morrison (Virginia Tech, United States)

  • Algebraic Geometric Codes – Alain Couvreur (INRIA Saclay, France) and Beth Malmskog (Colorado College, United States) 

  • Code-based Cryptography – Alain Couvreur (INRIA Saclay, France)

  • Funding: Financial support is available for selected participants.

The school will take place at Facultad de Ingeniería Química, Universidad Nacional del Litoral, Santa Fe, Argentina.
