Manhattan's iconic St. Patrick's Day Parade has already been postponed, for the first time in its more than 250-year history. De Blasio said on CNN Thursday that New Yorkers can expect an announcement on Broadway, where a theater usher has tested positive, later in the day or Friday as the city's case count climbed again overnight.
On Thursday, Cuomo called it a "public health emergency" and said that in order to reduce the spread there will be no gathering with 500 people or more, those below a 500 seated capacity should reduce occupancy by 50 percent.
Overall, the state of New York sits at 240 (242 as of this publication) confirmed cases as of Thursday afternoon, trailing only Washington state (370) as America's most impacted state.
As of Thursday morning, New York City had 62 total cases, an increase of nine overnight, de Blasio said on CNN. Nassau County added another dozen cases, bringing its total to 40, while Orange County reported its first positive. New Jersey has about two dozen cases. Connecticut has four presumed positives -- three of them in Fairfield County. See a tri-state case breakdown here.
