Follow Your Interest, Persuit Your Dreams

Steve Jobs’ speech reminds me of my experience. I would like to post
my reflection through sharing.

I believe I am good at what I am interested. And I enjoy my life while
pursuiting my dream.

When I was younger, I had a dream to be a lawyer to help people in
need. How to become a lawyer in China?

1. Study hard and do well in high school
2. Take the college enterance exam
3. Get accepted to law school of a unversity
4. Obtain a bachelor’s degree from a university
5. Pass the bar exam
6. Practice law in a law firm for one year or above
7. Pass the Character and Fitness evaluation
8. Obtain a certificate

Held the dream in mind, I studied hard and got accepted to unveristy,
follow my heart and follow the steps. It was not all happy but a
challenge. When I studied in high school, most of junior classmates
went to vocational school. When I graduated from high school, they
went to work. When I studied in the university, they married. When I
graduated from the unviversity, they had a baby. And I can predict
that the baby will grow up and folow their way. Nothing changes.

Therefore, I found that the best way to help people is to educate
them. The law can not change people, but the education can change
people, who can change the world. So I changed my dream after
graduation, I did not hesitate to devote myself to education
organization which is a noble profession. Working relating to
education, I do not rest to enjoy satisfaction with work but also
think afar.

What major are you interested, Steve?
My parents want me to study finance.
Yes, but what major do you like?
Everyone says finance has a good future.
Yes, but what’s your dream?
Can my parents answer this question?

The above Q&A are most common examples for current students in China.
They have no interest, have no dreams, but parents’ expectation. They
don’t know who they are, where they are going. That’s problem caused
by China education.

China has a serious problem of insufficient education resource. What
can I do to reform Chinese education system and to promote broad-based
education? That’s why I choose KM in NTU, where I pursuite my dream
and on the way to enabling dreams of others.

Looking back, I have no regret in pursuiting my dream. Steve Jobs’
speech also convince me following my interest and pursuiting my
dream.
