Dear ALL apple team member,

Thanks for our great team work, especially Erika and Walter, so now it
is final stage for us to decide whether the following 7 points are ok
to submit as final reflection on SJ's speech.

1. Pursue your passion by following your heart. Don't settle.

Steve Jobs said, "I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life..."
when he was 17.
Didn't that sound too familiar?
Just look around. There could be many more (possibly much older
than
17!) people saying the same.
The young Steve who made the statement then is now the Steve Jobs
as we
all know him to be.
One big question: How is Steeve Jobs DIFFERENT from those people?
When confronted with Life's choices, Steve Jobs was (and I believe
he
still is) true, courageous and faithful to himself. Most people are
not!
I find Steve Jobs and his 3 stories very inspiring. He was very
unlike
most people... Never mind what others think or say... It's all
about...

PURSUE YOUR PASSION. FOLLOW YOUR HEART. BE TRUE TO YOURSELF

2. Maintain intellectual curiosity and keep on learning.

3. Learning is multi-dimensional and represents a synthesis of
knowledge

we often rely on our cumulative experiences when solving
problems. For e.g., Steve Jobs relied on his understanding of
aesthetics in the design of the first GUI and typeface for Mac. Other
e.gs. Graphs, flash videos, brainstorming
maps, etc,.

4. Learning isn't limited to formal education.

Learning can occur anywhere, anytime and with/from anyone. In other
words, life in itself
can constitute learning.

5. Adopt a reflective state of mind and be true to yourself by asking:
"Who am I?", "Where am I going?" and "Am I on the right path?".

Don't stray from your passion.

6. Maintain a sense of urgency in life by staying true to your
passion
and not to waste a minute of it doing things that you don't truly
believe in.

7. Rejections, challenges or failures in life are to expected.

E.g. Steve Jobs dropped out of college, got ousted from Apple
sometime
in his career, contracted a rare form of curable pancreatic cancer
etc. without ever succumbing to these challenges. In other words, we
should adopt a more optimistic outlook in life and use time wisely to
better ourselves rather than wallow in self-pity in the face of
difficulties.

Dear All,

I prefer the previous final one, i think that one is shorter and
clear.

If comment on Point 1 deem too long, feel free to have it changed or
removed as appropriate. What matters is it's being given due
consideration before final submission. Point 1 Comment aside, please
seriously consider revising current Title to "Pursue Your Passion.
Follow Your Heart. Be True to Yourself" or to something closer to the
essence of the reflection, though not necessarily in the exact words.

Thanks to Jeff for putting in time and efforts to pull things
together.

Thanks to Erika for taking initiative to invite feedback and comments
by email prior to final submission.

Thanks to everyone else who in one way or another contribute to the
work of our team.

All the best to our final submission,

Walter Yam YN

Hi, I also agree that the previous version seemed shorter and neater. It gets straight to the point.

I am actually quite comfortable with both versions and have no objections towards submitting any one of them.

Thanks.

I share this further thought assuming final submission has not yet being made... If not, please ignore this email.

For purpose of communication clarity and effectiveness, the final text (capped within a reasonable number of words) and its presentation (with the most appropriate and best choice of words/language) should be sufficiently self-explanatory and self-contained to communicate precisely what we intend to for reflections as a team. No more, no less.

Please try putting ourselves in Prof Kan's shoes as the reader when finalizing our submission.

If after reading our submission, a reader (who has not read the bulk of our postings beforehand) is not fully clear about the essence of our Team Reflection (for instance if we submit a 6-word 1-liner as a bullet point content that he couldn't understand the meaning), and has to check out our many postings to figure out what we are saying, then I personally would consider the quality of our final submission poor.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Walter Yam YN

PS: My apologies for the rather belated contribution and comments as I have had problems accessing the Google Group earlier.

Dear all,

In my opinion, I agree that the title should be short and concise, and
I think we have done it well as requested on listing our bullet
points.

However, the further explanation belows the tiltes is necessary and
can be regarded as one more option for our professor Kan to understand
our thought about titles.

So, the final edition seems more complete, and I will submit this
final edition, since majority of our team feel comfortable with both
editions.

Thanks
