Server names

Is there a maximum character length for a server name that Config Manager will allow? Our GIS staff have built a new set of servers, and some of the names are extremely long, well over 15 characters.  Most of them have still been able to have the ConfigMgr client installed, but I have one so far that nothing happens on the client when I push.  I’m wondering if it is because of the length of the name.

I’m pretty sure that, while the names can be longer, you need uniqueness in the first 15 chars. But I admit that I haven’t tested this in several years.

 

Quick internet search confirms that OSDComputerName should still be 15 or less…
