For anyone doing in-place server upgrades, did you, or are you, uninstalling the SCCM client prior to the upgrade? We just ran a test with a pretty vanilla 2012R2 server. Upgraded Powershell, uninstalled SCEP, and did the upgrade. The upgrade went fine, but the SCCM client wasn’t working properly afterwards. Instead of diving into client side logs, I decided to just install the client from the console, and chose to uninstall from there as well. That failed, so I did a manual uninstall, then pushed the install again from the server. Now, I’m getting an error that references a .mof file unable to be loaded, or something… I’m going to do the research for that in the morning, but it sounds like I may need to repair WMI…
So, long story short, was uninstalling the SCCM client needed/helpful, or am I just seeing an oddball issue?
Thanks,
Joe Heaton

.mof file unable to be loaded when dealing with an OS upgrade usually means having to run the microsoftpolicyplatform.msi.

Thanks, Cynthia. That seemed to work, kind of.
I copied the .msi from the server, from the client install directory, to the client machine, and ran it. It failed and did a roll back. I couldn’t find any logs to show why. I then copied the .msi from my own laptop to the client and ran it. It offered a Repair, which I did, and it successfully finished. After that, I was able to push install from the MCM console successfully.
