I have a developer that is asking me to add Distributed Transaction Coordinator as an app that is allowed to communicate through the Windows firewall. I’m doing some reading on it, but does anyone here see any immediate red flags with allowing this?

I'd pay attention to this article, if nothing else:

Last time I hit working with this service was in an AD recovery situation.

Something in the MSDTC service was also corrupt along with the AD databases.

Be careful with this one.
