I have an RDS server that does not use client profile disks and the user profiles are under C:\Users.  Same server has a W: and Y: drive.  Those drives both have $RECYCLE.BIN folders and under those are folder names that are a bunch of SIDs.

Does RDS create a recycle folder on *each* local drive on the RDS server for each person that logs in?

that's not my experience, but we are using UPDs.

Do the SIDs actually represent AD users? ie do you get a 1:1 mapping when doing get-aduser with the SID in the $reccyle.bin?

We are using UPD’s for other RDS servers, but not this one.

“? ie do you get a 1:1 mapping when doing get-aduser with the SID in the $reccyle.bin? “

Yes.

Ahhh….didn’t think it was a universal print driver….but wasn’t sure what else it may be.

We haven’t done local profiles in so long I don’t remember if this would be the norm.

We did just do a profile migration for a client that uses folder redirection for the Desktop and Documents folders and I did see $Recycle.BIN go by in their folder’s list for both in the root.

So, I’m going to say, probably yes. Those are legit folders and not to be messed with.
