So I've got a server (actually a Windows cluster), and when I refresh Server Manager, there are a number of warnings, event ID 45 and 46.

Generic failure querying the localized name for channel: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-IoTrace/Diagnostic [hResult = Function failed during execution., hLastResult = The instance name passed was not recognized as valid by a WMI data provider.].

4 of the same above. Then:

Failure opening metadata of the owning provider for channel: Microsoft-Windows-SPB-HIDI2C/Analytic [hResult = Function failed during execution., hLastResult = The system cannot find the file specified.].

3x of those. Then:

Failure opening metadata of the owning provider for channel: Microsoft-Windows-SystemSettingsThreshold/Debug [hResult = Function failed during execution., hLastResult = The system cannot find the file specified.].

And some others. I haven't been able to find any searches that are pointing me at what it's looking for, much less why it isn't there (or if it even *should* be there).

Anyone seen this before?

Dollars to doughnuts it is WMI bloated and boffed on the nodes.

Well, I won't bet against you. Mostly because I don't understand ... LOL ... Yeah, I get that you think the WMI might be house, and you're probably right. I just don't know where to find out where and how it is "boffed", or how to fix it. LOL

You could try to recycle both the cluster service and the WMI service.

Check memory usage for both.

Make sure this is after hours because the other option will be a reboot then the nuclear option is a full shut down and restart.

Well, this weekend is maintenance weekend, where we apply Windows patches. I can reboot the passive node right node. I'll be away, so my co-worker will be monitoring the patching, so I'll have to check on the active node next week,

Rebooted the passive node, still see those messages on Server Manager refresh.
