After a period of decent performance, it now starts to go awry again. Tried
to send an email this morning and server timed out.

Also, I've got searches set on Ebay. I think I should be getting emails
from Ebay, but nothing today. I've got the sinking feeling that NTL email
is not working, when messages are do get sent from my end, I begin to think
they are not getting thru to the recipent.

smtp.ntlworld.com (212.250.162.8 for me) seems to be pantsed. After
going through various menu options and prerecorded announcements on
their support line (0845 650 0121) they said that some NTL customers may
have problems sending emails and they were working on it (i.e.
presumably they didn't know what the problem was and/or how to fix it ;-)

They've managed to screw up the newsgroups as well, mostly uk.* ones.
