Sorry to be a pain in the ass...

I just got my ntl cable modem set up today, & had grand plans of using
a router to distribute the conection around the house to 4 PCs.
Unfortunately, this was nowhere near as easy as I'd hoped & have no
real idea what the hell's going on :-S

I'm guessing that the router is what actually connects to the ntl
network, so needs to set the password & username, while the PCs just
share divide the router's connection between themselves. If this is
wrong, please correct me.

So, do I need to set up the router with any PPTP or PPPoE settings? Do
I need to tell the modem what DNS server to connect to, or will it
work it out for itself?

Also, I'm guessing that the ntl CD is only any good if you're
connecting with the one computer. Do I just need to tell all the PC's
on the network to try & connect thru another computer on the LAN & let
windows sort it out?

Yeah, this probably sounds like really simple stuff, but I'm just
getting confused at what component is trying to do what & my head's
hurting now. If you could make some sort of "idiots guide to setting
up ntl with a router" or point me towards one, you'll have my eternal
thanks.

Matt
