Unable to ping Router

Hi, I have added the Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless Access Point Router to
my NTL broadband cable setup but am unable to access the router to set
it up, i.e. if I enter the ip address: 192.168.1.1 nothing happens at
all. I have tried changing my home PC IP address to 192.168.1.2 but
still can't talk to it. I have the PC as DHCP. I asked NTL if they
need the MAC address for the router but they didn't.
I simply can't get any further, can anyone help? Please!
