Myvideo editing program is asking to update my driver , but I can not find the Intel HD Graphics 5500 in the list of driver updates, they all seem to have names and generations and such , but not any thing like 5500.

I run into some problems with AmigaMerlin 2.9 drivers... American McGee's Alice could not pick up an accelerated opengl device and just crashed to desktop... Installing metabyte wicked gl 3.2 demo fixed that but this is not how it is supposed to work!

I gave a shot at Raziel's Evolution drivers, Alice picks up the card allright without extra programs , but glide games (lick Croc) are just plain wrong, random pixels and all is totally wrong...

What am I missing here? What drivers you people use?

thanks for any info ?

Most of those alternative drivers are just the last beta drivers with more configuration options enabled (which is very easy to do), and maybe some dlls swapped out. I never found an alternative driver which was significantly better than the reference driver, they just had compatibility issues.

well I just use it to play some Unreal/Ungying/Noone Lives Forever 2/glide-only games of the era... with a 1.4ghz tualatin pIII it is very enjoyable! I now tried the 3DHQ drivers, they seem allright, no probs at all (for now) and they come with a "3dfx tools" alternative that is actually way better

well it appears that in some cases a minigl is STILL needed (has to do with how the game was written apparently), no matter what voodoo card one may have... I have not tried any reference drivers yet, will give them a shot after Evolution 1.01.16

There are some homebrew drivers that are more than just reworked INFs though. The 3DHQ drivers are recompilations with changes (ie DirectX8 compatibility). Somehow they got the source code. VSA-100 doesn't have much more than DirectX 6 features though so there's not much point in trying to run games that advanced.

I think the classic Voodoo plaid dither is more priceless than anything, especially for the low opacity green/purple artifacts. I can't wait for the day MESS/MAME emulates 3dfx tech via software means, then all the voodoo quirks coming in an authentic Glide wrapper.

So, my notebook (HP 15-ac120nd) won't let me play some games anymore because I need a "video cart accelerator." On some other forums I read that I needed to update the driver for my graphics card (Intel (R) HD Graphics 5500). So I followed all the steps, downloaded the latest version from the Intel website, but when I wanted to install it my HP said it didn't recognize the file and didn't allow it to install and redirected me to the HP drivers. But when I tried to download and install the drivers that HP claimed were for my notebook specific I couldn't install them either because they don't fit my video card.

To unzip the file, right click on the graphics driver zip file you downloaded, and select Extract All.

Go to the device manager, click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category

Click on the Intel HD graphics adapter listed there.

Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Click on Have Disk, and browse to the unzipped graphics driver folder>Graphics>igdlh64 (setup information file), click Next, and the driver should install.

Be patient, as it can take a few minutes for the driver to completely install.

When the installation is finished, restart the PC.

I am posting for a student in my course who is getting a System Compatibility Report for Adobe Premiere Pro that says "Video INtel(R) HD Graphics 5500 is an unsupported Video Driver). See attached screenshot. After the student clicks "Fix," they still get the same error message. How can we resolve this? Will they be able to use Premiere?

As I have stated many, many times in other threads in the Adobe community forums, your CPU platform is now officially too old for any newer version of Premiere Pro. The HD 5500 is an indication that your system is equipped with a 4th-Generation Refresh mobile CPU - but Adobe now officially requires a 6th-Generation or newer CPU in order to run Premiere Pro. And Intel had already depreciated all support for its 4th- and 5th-Generation CPUs back in 2018. Since then, only security patches and no new compatibility updates or bug fixes have been released for these older CPUs.

And Adobe failed to do its part in updating the OpenCL recommended list, leaving its Windows OpenCL and integrated graphics lists in situ since the release of CC 2018 back in 2017. In other words, Adobe did not even bother to test AMD or Intel GPUs, outside of AMD's pricey Radeon Pro WX-series GPUs, at all on Windows since 2017.

That may be true today. But in 14.3.2, then there is a very high probability that the program will crash whenever one tries to perform much if anything in that program with that PC (in other words, the user would have gone absolutely nowhere in video editing). That is the first warning sign to upgrade to a newer PC ASAP.

In other words, the time for continued use of older, now-legacy-or-obsolete hardware for Premiere Pro is almost over. When version 15 is released this Fall, the user will no longer be able to obtain any version of Premiere Pro that worked at all with older hardware (albeit with restrictions).

My computer has the same issues and I discovered that I cannot update my graphics driver to the one Premier Pro 2020 demands. I have an older version Premier Pro 2017 which I decided to use (rather than buy a new laptop) but the tutorial files won't even download property and cannot be opened. This seems very unfair. How can you use any of the tutorial files and practice? Is there a workaround?

That doesn't work. When the tutorial files are downloaded and opened : The message pops up: This file was downloaded in a newer version of Primerie Pro and cannot be opened. So I'm left with the video turorials but can't practice with any of the adobe files, hence the question of a workaround. I do have Primerie Pro 2019 and 2020 on my computer - so i'm wondering if uninstalling these would help. Seems like a waste of space to have 3 versions of everything CC.

Turn off hardware decoding and encoding in the Preferences > Media section, and then switch the renderer to the Mercury Playback Engine Software Only mode in the Project Settings under the General tab in the Video Rendering and Playback section. You cannot use hardware acceleration at all in Premiere Pro with that old laptop.

The free Xerox Global Print Driver manages Xerox and non-Xerox printers on your network with a single, easy-to-use interface. It dramatically simplifies enterprise printer management for IT managers, making it easy to add and update printers without changing drivers.

Whenever I install any drivers for it (latest or old) the PCs black screen. I have tried waiting for it, no avail. When restarting, it shows the Windows logo and past that, just black screen. The only way to boot the PCs again is by going into safe mode. When using the basic driver, there is no issues (but ofc you don't wanna run with this driver). Tried minimal install and driver only install, same issue. The thing is, it is all happening on 5 of them.

Same issue still. Odly enough, I was now able to install the driver and ran Furmark for an hour. All went fine but when I went to play some games for testing, it did the same thing. Black screen again. Any more recommendations?

1) According to user cpurpe91 on an another thread on this board, Apex Legends can break AMD drivers somehow. Recommendation was, if you have AL installed, uninstall it, DDU drivers and reinstall drivers, but not Apex Legends anymore.

Sorted out the problem. Turns out the power supply is not delivering enough power or possibly delivering power at an unstable rate, causing issues when playing esport titles at 1440p. Tested a 750 watt psu on 3 of them resolved the issue. Pretty sure it will resolve the issue on the other 2 also. Thanks for helping btw.

Ok. The reason I asked was, Corsair is generally considered a good PSU brand and 600W should be enough for that system, so I didn't suspect that could be an issue, and this is like the third time in short time someone had a problem with a not-so-old Corsair.

That is not adding ID string to the ini file. Just find the ID string in a newer driver that has the card there and copy/paste it to ini file of 45.23 driver. That way you can make it show up as correct card name in windows device manager. That is what I did with FX 5950 ultra.
