Just passing this along from Patch Management, there’s a problem with the March 2024 Exchange SU that breaks search for Exchange 2016 and 2019 in Outlook cached mode, and possibly online mode with 2019 (more to come). After testing I’ve implemented the workaround this morning, which disables server-side search completely in Outlook until they can fix it.

Thanks Georg, I was going to post the same this morning. We also ran into this and have had a case open with Microsoft, I received the same workaround link and confirmation that it’s a problem with the March Exchange SU. Testing has shown it may also be a problem in online mode for Exchange 2019, which utilizes search differently than 2016--I’m still gathering more trace data to send along.

Only for those of you with the same problems
After installing the update server assisted search doesn’t work anymore in cached mode.
There are registry keys to workaround the behaviour (by disabling fast search)
