The series was announced by YouTube in June 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that it would "showcase the singer's personal and professional journey over the last three years". Michael D. Ratner was announced as director the same day. The series, which is made up of four parts, is a follow-up to Lovato's 2017 YouTube Originals documentary, Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated.[5] In January 2021, Lovato shared the title of the series in a social media post, exclaiming that "there has been so much that I've wanted to say" and she felt that this was the right way of doing so.[6] Lovato stated that she wanted to "set the record straight" with the series and shed light on the overdose and what led to it. She also shared a desire to help others who are dealing with similar struggles and keep themself accountable moving forward, something she found to be helpful during the 6 years of sobriety which they maintained before 2018.[7][8] Lovato also said she experienced tremendous "growth" during her experiences, and was fundamentally eager to share that with others.[7]

Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil is directed, produced and executive produced by Michael D. Ratner, executive produced by Lovato herself and Braun, Allison Kaye, Scott Manson for SB Projects, and Scott Ratner, Kfir Goldberg, and Miranda Shannon for OBB Pictures. Marc Ambrose served as producer, and Andy Mininger, Arlen Konopaki, Jen McDaniels, Scott Marcus, James Shin and Hannah Lux Davis served as co-executive producers.[10]

Similarly to Simply Complicated, the documentary features interviews with friends and family speaking of Lovato's near-fatal 2018 overdose and the health scares they experienced from the event. Elton John and Christina Aguilera also appear.[12]

Dancing with the Devil debuted as the opening night headliner at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival on March 16, 2021 and the first two episodes were released on YouTube on March 23, 2021. The last two episodes premiered March 30 and April 6, respectively.[13][14]

The Guardian writer Alim Kheraj gave the series 4 out of 5 stars, commenting that Dancing with the Devil explores the devastating consequences of living under the restraints of being a child star, and that "if the point of music documentaries is to humanize her subject, then Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil should become the blueprint."[18] Daniel D'Addario from Variety praised Lovato for her "outright shocking bluntness" and powerfulness throughout the series.[19] In a mixed review, Inkoo King of The Hollywood Reporter praised Lovato's brutal honesty throughout the series, but felt that at times the "honesty is sometimes undermined aesthetically by production choices ... at other times, Lovato's openness is underserved by Ratner's preference for momentum over proper contextualization."[20]

"Dancing with the Devil" is a song by American singer Demi Lovato. It was released on March 26, 2021 by Island Records as the third[2] single from Lovato's seventh studio album Dancing with the Devil... the Art of Starting Over. The singer co-wrote the song with Bianca Atterberry, John Ho, and its producer Mitch Allan. The song debuted and peaked at number 56 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top 50 in the UK and the Billboard Global 200 and number 7 in Hungary.

The song begins with currently recovered Lovato chronicling a 2018 substance dependency relapse, which would lead to a near-fatal overdose later that same year.[5] The opening verses describe the relapse's initial phase, which was primarily with red wine: "It's just a little red wine, I'll be fine/ Not like I wanna do this every night/ I've been good, don't I deserve it? I think I've earned it/ Feels like it's worth it in my mind."[6] The second verse describes an introduction to heavier drugs: "A little white line" that eventually became "a little glass pipe."[7]

Ultimately, Lovato becomes addicted to smoking heroin, singing "Tinfoil remedy almost got the best of me,"[5] and confessing in the pre-chorus that during this time, "I told you I was OK, but I was lying."[7] The track's chorus, "almost made it to heaven" by "playing with the enemy / gambling with my soul", refers to a past overdose. Lovato also sings about the grip that addiction had and the psychological difficulty it imposed, repeating throughout the song "It's so hard to say no / When you're dancing with the devil".[8]

The video for "Dancing with the Devil" is a detailed re-creation of the events involved in Lovato's 2018 drug overdose, sexual assault, and harrowing near-death experience, as well as the aftermath in the hospital the days after.[9] The music video is a re-enactment, and includes the green jacket worn that night with scenes of substance abuse at a party, followed by proceeding home and unzipping of the drug dealer's duffel bag in Lovato's bedroom, and later the drug dealer looming ominously over the singer's unconscious and unclothed body, presumably after a sexual assault.[9] The paramedics are then shown reviving and transporting Lovato to the hospital, where a neck tube is sewn in, in order to pump out blood, clean it, and pump it back in.[9] This is followed by scenes of family and friends shuddering at the hospital during the first post-overdose day, when survival was in doubt.[9] Finally Lovato wakes up, and is given a sponge bath by a nurse, which reveals a "survivor" tattoo near where the neck blood tube used to be.[9]

Prior to its release, "Dancing with the Devil" was described by Shana Naomi Krochmal of Entertainment Weekly as "evok[ing] Adele's "Skyfall" theme".[10] Billboard described the song as "powerful" and "confessional".[11] Rob Harvilla of The Ringer, describes the song as "an expert slow-burn barrage of Bond Movie Theme extravagant melodrama."[9]

I tried very much. My last idea was a tranquilizer arrow xD But the arrow killed the woodcutters instant. Really a unsatisfying outcome ;(
Maybe i should try it with tranquilizer competition-arrows, they do the lowest damage, but i gaved it up already ;(
I have choosen the best arithmetik outcome: Destroying 2 lives is better than let get 3 lives destroyed: 3 Womans versus 2 Woodcutters = 3 Womans must survive.

Alphaviruses are arthropod-borne, single-stranded positive sense RNA viruses that rely on the engagement of host RNA-binding proteins to efficiently complete the viral lifecycle. Because of this reliance on host proteins, the identification of host/pathogen interactions and the subsequent characterization of their importance to viral infection has been an intensive area of study for several decades. Many of these host protein interaction studies have evaluated the Protein:Protein interactions of viral proteins during infection and a significant number of host proteins identified by these discovery efforts have been RNA Binding Proteins (RBPs). Considering this recognition, the field has shifted towards discovery efforts involving the direct identification of host factors that engage viral RNAs during infection using innovative discovery approaches. Collectively, these efforts have led to significant advancements in the understanding of alphaviral molecular biology; however, the precise extent and means by which many RBPs influence viral infection is unclear as their specific contributions to infection, as per any RNA:Protein interaction, have often been overlooked. The purpose of this review is to summarize the discovery of host/pathogen interactions during alphaviral infection with a specific emphasis on RBPs, to use new ontological analyses to reveal potential functional commonalities across alphaviral RBP interactants, and to identify host RBPs that have, and have yet to be, evaluated in their native context as RNA:Protein interactors.

This is not meant to be a formal definition of dance with the devil like most terms we define on Dictionary.com, but is rather an informal word summary that hopefully touches upon the key aspects of the meaning and usage of dance with the devil that will help our users expand their word mastery.

The diablos danzantes (dancing devils) are a fascinating Venezuelan tradition that attracts locals and tourists alike. It is a ritual where the descendants of indigenous, Spanish, and African people dance to pay tribute to God and the Blessed Sacrament of the Catholic church by dancing backward in devil costumes.

Women are in charge of the spiritual preparation of children who participate and organize the stages of the dancing of the devil ritual. They make food, create altars along the procession route, and were recently accepted as dancers.
