to NSW Later Lawyers Network
Dear NSW Later Lawyers Network Members
Firstly, thank- you to all of you who came to the Art House Hotel last
month for our first ever social get-together. It was great to meet
you and to hear your ideas about the future of the network and is
something that I hope we will be able to repeat in the not too distant
future. I was really encouraged by the great turn out (if not by the
fact that not one of the people I spoke to had been selected for a
summer clerkship) and had some fascinating conversations with some
very interesting people.
I also wanted to let the rest of you know that I recently met with
Anna Alexander who co-ordinates the Victorian Lawyers Network on
behalf of the Law Institute of Victoria. The Victorians have a very
successful program of events in place and provided me with some
fantastic advice and ideas for developing our own network.
I am hoping to establish a regular, quarterly speakers program
featuring keynote speakers who could give us some insights,
inspiration and advice about what it is to be later lawyer in NSW. I
am currently working on identifying a list of people to approach as
speakers and would really value your input. If there is someone in
particular that you would like to add to the list of speakers, please
send me as many details as you can i.e. name, contact details and
reasons why you'd think they'd be a valuable inclusion then I will be
happy to follow up.
The speakers program would be an excuse for us to get together at
least once a quarter - with the benefit of some focused discussion -
and is something that I hope will also enable us to attract formal
support for via the Law Society of NSW and others.
All the best,
Felicia
PS
- I am thrilled to see that our regional members have found each
other - maybe there's scope for you guys in the Hunter to organise
your own Later Lawyers events?

Hi sounds like get together in Sydney recently was fantastic! I am hoping to
attend some future events in Sydney (2 hour drive which is ok if it is a
quarterly event). I am also doing a PhD on domestic violence as well as
teaching at Newcastle Uni so time poor at the moment - the Hunter later
lawyers idea could be something for the future!! If anyone interested in my
PhD area let me know - my interest overlaps both health and law and I plan
to interview lawyers as well as health workers later in my research
(probably next year). Cheers Lyn

Hi everyone

this sounds like a fantastic idea. I missed the drinks last month but i
would love to meet some of you. It would be useful if we could select the
dates well ahead of time so we can put them into our calendars.
Thanks for including me and I look forward to meeting some of you soon.

Regards
